I used to play basketball in Talent. The #GlendowerFire and #AlmedaFire destroyed towns I used to walk through, shop in, call home. Last PM I got a text, “Phoenix is gone.” This AM from another friend, “House is totally gone.” I’m heartbroken for southern Oregon and @KTVL.
The weird part is knowing where these images and videos are taken. Knowing the street names. How often I went to those same places for stories of my own. Seeing that @GenevieveReaume is returning to Medford to cover the destruction... I can’t imagine being in that position.
The hardest part is knowing the community, but having to watch from afar. I interviewed this particular family a handful of times. I see interviewees who became friends posting stories like this and I’m crying. (Story from @RyanPfeil) mailtribune.com/news/top-stori…
