A huge privilege to be at the totally packed London premiere of @RoOT_film, a profoundly moving & powerful film about #HongKong's #FightForFreedom, & Q&A with the courageous director afterwards

Huge congratulations to @nathanlawkc @HKFF_UK /
It was deeply moving to sing Glory to Hong Kong at the end & give the director standing applause along with hundreds of wonderful #HongKongers

This film is banned in #HongKong & I probably committed another #NationalSecurityLaw crime by going to see it, but I highly recommend it
I urge everyone who has the opportunity to go see @RoOT_film

One year on from the death of Marco Leung Ling-kit at this exact spot, this is how #HK looks: nothing but a sea of green. #HKPoliceState Image
In spite of the repression, still quite a few brave citizens are gathered at Pacific Place, Admiralty, to remember Marco Leung's fall on June 15 last year. It was for many a moment of reckoning, of realizing how serious the #HK freedom struggle had become & the sacrifice required Image
Across #HK people are marking the 1st anniversary of the death of Marco Leung Ling-kit today, the 1st associated with the struggle against the extradition bill. Pro-democracy leaders on trial for unlawful assembly held 3min of silence before entering court

[One year later, #Policebrutality intensifies]

1. A year ago, millions of #HKers flocked to streets to oppose #AntiExtradition bill & #PoliceViolence. It was the time when demonstrations, protests, strikes, petitions, forming human chains & singing #GlorytoHongKong were permitted Image
2. One year later, #Hongkongers and the world bear witness to #Beijing's growing direct control on the city’s vanishing liberty. Ordinary citizens are stabbed by pro-#Beijing mobs, smashed to the ground and arrested by #hkpolice just because they sing in public. ImageImageImage
3. This is the time when teachers are fired for refusing to censor students, and even a satirical show was halted for mentioning #policebrutality. Image

Lots of people gathering now around Sogo in Causeway Bay for #June12 anniversary. Poster of that day’s events are displayed. Lots of police too, both riot & undercover. Remember:all protests are still banned &police have announced thousands of cops are out tonight to prevent them
20.08 In Mong Kok, a large number of citizens have been indiscriminately kettled, presumably for stop&search. This is a frequently employed rights-abusing technique of the police. Very large police presence near Langham Place.
People also gathering in New Town Plaza mall in Sha Tin.

The queue’s 200 hundred meters long to get into the #LadyLiberty exhibit at openground in Sham Shui Po. Lady Liberty was destroyed by pro-CCPers on Lion Rock in Oct. A new Lady Liberty’s been made & the broken pieces of the old one, splattered in red paint, are also on display
In fact, the new #LadyLiberty is too big to fit in the 1st-floor exhibition space. She’s here only from the waist up. The artists wanted to display her on ground floor but ‘suddenly’ govt officials showed up, w police across the street, & said it was against some obscure code.
Many sculptures by #HK artists inspired by #LadyLiberty are being auctioned to raise funds for 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund, which helps protesters in need.

A Sing-With-You protest started about 20min ago at Cityplaza mall in Tai Koo. A large number of police just entered tha mall & appears intent on confronting the people singing. A mall protest took place in Central on Fri w/out police entering the mall. #HKPoliceState
Hundreds gathered to sing in the mall. Perhaps the large number irritated police. Policing has been especially draconian & hostile to anything that looks like a protest for months. Freedom of assembly is unjustifiably circumscribed in #HK.
Police aggressively confront people in mall who are peaceful, warning them to observe coronavirus social distancing rules. This is now a pattern: police invoke public health to stop protest. On Apr21 in YuenLong, they issued 36 tickets for violating the rules w fine of HK$2k each

Winnie the Poon meets V for Vendetta at Hong Kong Polytechnic Univerity. Graduates from design school and social science school are having their graduation ceremony today to protest the principal's differential treatment during a graduation ceremony held two days ago. #antiELAB Image
Wanna know what is underneath Winnie the Poon? It is President Xi. Graduates from PolyU's design school and social science school are protesting the principal's differential treatment. He refused the shake hands with those graduates wearing masks. #antiELAB #HongKongProtests Image
The scene is reflective of the 2005 dystopian political movie "V for Vendetta". In one of the final scenes, thousands upon thousands of people wear this Guy Fawkes mask. But here at PolyU, they sing the protest anthem #GloryToHongKong in unison. #antiELAB #HongKongProtests Image

#LIVE: Although HK’s leader Carrie Lam said yesterday that the San Uk Ling Detention Centre, where #antiELAB arrestees were reportedly tortured, had been disused, thousands have still gathered at Edinburgh Place in downtown Central in support of those arrested. #ExtraditionLaw
#LIVE: The San Uk Ling mystery has started to unfurl as the rally organisers play videos of #antiELAB detainees talking about their detentions and treatments. Despite bones being fractured and heads being bloodied, they say police refuse to send them to hospital. #ExtraditionLaw
#Live: Using protest anthem #GloryToHongKong as a backdrop, partakers are paying a minute respect to those detained due to the #ExtraditionLaw movement. Some say although the San Uk Ling Detention Centre has been disused, they will still voice out for those #antiELAB arrestees.
