3. RTI Comm order on initial request by TISL came in late 2018. Since Feb 2019, @TharakaBalasur1, @EranWick, @MASumanthiran, @alizmoulana, Vasu, Vidura, @HarshadeSilvaMP, @RamanayakeR and others were among first MPs to take leap and make asset declarations public.

It also talks about our past, how we've treated each other, our violent and uncomfortable history; & our future, how we can be active citizens to build a fairer, safer & more beautiful country. 2/8

Trying to write our country's complex & challenging story for kids forced me to really drill down to core concepts & issues.

If for instance Sajith takes PMship now he will be in charge of running IMF program. He will have do this with a 20A empowered RAJAPAKSA President who has wide ranging powers over a powerless PM. In the meantime Namal will become the leader of the opposition.

There were multiple reasons why the majority of the @sjbsrilanka did not want @sajithpremadasa to accept premiership under a fully empowered President. Yes, there is a crisis no doubt and a cross section of people wanted the SJB to to take the lead.

However, The main tagline by the protestors since day 1 was for #GotaGoHome. It was never intended to be #GotaStayHome and #RWWelcomeBack. The peoples one true intention was for the current President to go resign or create an exit path.

🧵Jumping in a little late here, but to suggest that GGG is a covert JVP, NPP, IUSF, SYU operation is very misleading. They are certainly doing much of the heavy lifting (more power to them) but having been there from day one, I can say that there has been every possible....1/
...representation imaginable WITH the exception of anyone known or perceived to have ulterior motives or agendas. This is why the politicians were and are, largely, persona non grata there. 2/

We were then ridiculed and told that we did all this in the middle of a pandemic etc. The sad part is that when you have people saying things like "Mind your own business, We will fight this through", It makes us think what the actual solution is.

Video from when I arrived at GGG earlier today. By this time pro-govt supporters had already attacked both #MainaGoGama and GGG. Tear gas had already been fired.
#GotaGoHome protestors were attempting to put fire out. People were upset, angry but still staying in control. They were exhorting armed forces to intervene.
And then Mujibur Rahman arrived from Galadari side. He was walking fast and purposely w/ few others past #GGG and towards where pro-gov. supporters were some distance away. He was STOPPED by GGG protestors who were INTENT on deescalating situ and didn’t want any1 going there.
