So the De Gasperis family decided to pay $21 million a year to borrow $100 million for a piece of Greenbelt land that wasn’t supposed to be developed? Why would anyone do that unless they had a crystal ball or some other way to know that they could develop the land in the future?
Kudos to @moore_oliver and @jillsmahoney for their work on this article.
Ford is using the classic right-wing-in-gov playbook. Greenbelt attacked; tenant protections stripped; strikes criminalized. They expect us to scramble, become issue-centric, be shocked. It's early enough that voters may forget.

In Canada this unity began to happen in 2012 in the student strike in Quebec. One difference is, Ford is at the beginning of this mandate. They are trying to catch up on the changes they couldn't make during COVID. And while he may not be an ideologue, those around him are.
Voting on 2051 Official Plan now, looks as though it will include 250Ha of Oak Ridges Moraine (ORM) #Greenbelt land in #Vaughan...they are talking now about splicing it out & voting on it in parts? Staff clearly said can't sign off if it includes ORM land...1/x
Chair Emmerson who has failed to call motions out of order says on the whole the plan should be supported and it's only a little bit of the Oak Ridges Moraine here and there, not a precedent setting vote @YorkRegionGovt Code of Conduct 2/x

In Rosario there is a source separated municipal waste system. But the organic waste fraction is often contaminated and not to produce compost fit for agroecological farmers
They are therefore focusing on identifying and securing appropriate waste resources and capturing them before they enter the waste stream
