Heating water to boiling temperature using friction.
Its called a 'Tyndall apparatus' after the physicist John Tyndall who came up idea. Its really basic, the pipe holding the water spins against a piece of wood and creates friction. Not scaleable because of the pipe spinning but there are other ways of heating water with friction.
By stirring it really fast. Yes its that simple, as you stirr water the friction from your blender/paddle/stick going through water will actually heat it if you do it fast enough.
