New Fortress Energy put in their planning application recently for #ShannonLNG, which they call STEP. This is a thread about the massive climate threat contained in their plans and the blatant #greenwash plastered all through their application 1/
While NFE say this is "A STEP toward Zero" what they also say is "Direct emissions from the operation of the Proposed Development will equate to approximately 963kt CO2e in 2030, around 2.1% of Irelandâs carbon allowance if Irelandâs carbon reduction targets are met." 2/
These admitted emissions are only part of the story. The 8 data centres in their masterplan aren't in this application. "The design of the potential Data Centre Campus is not advanced to the stage where the quantity of emissions and impact/ effect of those emissions is known" 3/

They are a FTSE100 company. Last year they made ÂŁ13.4 billion in revenue and ÂŁ530.2 million in profit. 71% of the profit came from their fossil fuel businesses.

We all know that we need to stop using fossil fuels. But even with the ocean on fire, DCC have not committed to stop selling oil and gas.
