When UKIP won 166 councillors (but no councils) in 2014 the BBC called this a "political earthquake".

@TheGreenParty just gained 200 councillors, taking the total to 737, took control of a council & became the biggest party in several others.

But 0 Green guests on #bbclaurak. ImageImage
That said, the BBC has many excellent journalists, locally & nationally - here's BBC News East reporting in depth on why the Green Party did so well in Suffolk. The political bias comes from much higher up within the organisation.

And here's BBC Politics West reporting on big @TheGreenParty wins in the Forest of Dean & talking to @carla_denyer about Greens winning on Jacob Rees Mogg's doorstep in North East Somerset.

BBC reporting on the amazing #GreenWave has been much better locally than nationally.

Today is #newbook #publicationday for the 4th edition of Environmental Policy in the EU which I've had the pleasure to co-edit with Prof Andy Jordan @TyndallCentre @ueaenv for @routledgebooks

Long-ish thread to follow....

🥳🥳🥳
This has been a long time coming: we first discussed new edition in 2016, then #Brexit (and @Brexitenv) happened. Our fantastic authors then had to grapple with #Covid, its impact on the EU as well as on their own lives...and the exciting developments re #EuropeanGreenDeal

2/25
We’re really proud of all 20 chapters from both authors new to the book & returning authors from previous editions, from all around Europe. If you are familiar with previous editions, you can expect 8 completely new chapters, more figures, boxes and tables throughout. 📈📊

Despite being on the same side as shady folks like @IEAlondon and @the_TPA, allies against climate chaos (like @TheGreenParty and @ExtinctionR) still oppose HS2...

I'm going to do a little thread of threads explaining why this is really scary 😬
#GPConf #GreenWave #whyHS2
@iealondon @the_tpa @TheGreenParty @ExtinctionR Before we kick off, there is no better explanation of the point of/need for HS2 than @joncstone's recent piece in the @Independent (independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…) so definitely give that a read first.

Next, the bigger picture... Transport is now the UK's biggest source of GHG emissions, and it is still getting worse.

There are lots of underlying reasons for this, but fundamentally it is because too many people/things use road transport.

Today @TheGreenParty is setting out our European Election Priorities. After the #Greenwave we have high hopes – and I want to say on here why I believe you should vote Green. 👇👇👇
This election is about picking a side. When you go to the polls in just over 2 weeks time Brexit will be at the forefront of your minds. A vote for the Greens is the best way to stop Brexit. But it’s also a vote which says you don’t need to settle for second best.
We know there are other Remain parties – but behind their pro-EU facade is a very different type of politics. You don’t need to settle for a party whose environment spokesperson supports fracking or whose defence spokesperson is a cheerleader for the Iraq War.

"If you're interested, & I'll fund it somehow, I think you're the perfect guy, what we'd like to do is help knit together a populist nationalist movement throughout the world."

Bannon talking to @Nigel_Farage re alliance with Orban, Sisi, Modi & Duterte.
“Paradoxically, this generation of populist nationalists leads the way on international political cooperation.”

@Elif_Safak adds more to #Bannon’s list: Erdoğan in Turkey, Abascal in Spain, Salvini in Italy & far right parties in Poland, France & Austria. google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theg…
This was filmed in 2017 & is taken from the new documentary about Bannon, @TheBrinkFilm.

There's a moment in this clip when Farage looks towards the camera, clearly thinking: "I'm being filmed conspiring with a far-right extremist. If this ever gets out it won't look good."
