شہر ھے جہاں پہاڑی کی چوٹی پر بنے یہ ہزاروں مندروں کے حیرت انگیز نظارے ہمیں زمانہ قدیم میں واپس لے جاتے ہیں۔
پالیتنہ شویتمبرا (Shwethambara) کے لئے ایک زیارت گاہ ھے جو جین مت کی دو شاخوں میں سے ایک ھے، دوسری دگمبرا (Digambara) ھے۔
اس پہاڑی کا نام بھی مہاتما شترنجایا کے نام سے
پالیتنہ شویتمبرا (Shwethambara) کے لئے ایک زیارت گاہ ھے جو جین مت کی دو شاخوں میں سے ایک ھے، دوسری دگمبرا (Digambara) ھے۔
اس پہاڑی کا نام بھی مہاتما شترنجایا کے نام سے
منسوب ھے۔ یہ پہاڑ اسی وقت مقدس بن گیا تھا جب مہاتما کے سب سے پہلے عقیدت مند رشبھ (Rishabha) نے اس پر مقدس خطبہ دیا۔
پالیتنہ کی شترنجایا پہاڑیوں پر 1300 سے زیادہ سنگ مرمر کے یہ مندر جو زیادہ تر عقیدت مندوں کے عطیہ کردہ سونے اور چاندی سے مزین ہیں۔

سب سے بڑے حصے کا نام "مہاراٹھ", دوسرے حصے کا "گجراٹھ" اور تیسرے حصے کا نام"سوراٹھ" رکھا گیا لیکن ھندوستان کے ترک فاتحین (Slave Dynasty) نے اسے "گجراٹھ" سے گجرات بنا دیا کیونکہ انکی زبان سے ادا ھونا مشکل تھا۔
