A decade ago, in the aftermath of Sandy Hook, we lobbied, cajoled and begged for months and months to pass a similarly narrow bill, but ended up with only 4 Republican votes and Ted Cruz-led filibuster. We were told the NRA was too powerful and the politics too difficult. 2/
This time was different. In weeks after Uvalde, we had 10 Republicans on a bipartisan framework agreement, and after a month we had legislation poised to be signed into law. The NRA and NSSF opposed the bill. It didn’t matter — 15 Senate Republicans voted for the bill. 3/

2: There are 3 things you hear about the 2nd Amendment from gun nuts.
1. Its for self defense/personal liberty
2. Its so the people can overthrow a tyrannical government.

3: Self protection has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment. Its purpose was to safeguard the Republic through the establishment of militias akin to those that helped form the Continental Army. To achieve this, several regulations were imposed from the outset of the Republic.
I am a former firearms exec who owns and has sold a lot of guns. Never AR15s and never with incendiary marketing. I believe In responsibility and decency and for more than 15 years I fought against the industry from the inside because I feared where it was going.
And its gone way too far. The industry has forgotten responsibility. The @NRA set this course and now it’s poisoned our entire country. We have intractable chaos. Kids are collateral damage in a sick culture war. Everything we care about is impacted.
I had to get out and fight from the outside. I wrote GUNFIGHT so that people can know the truth of how we got here. With knowledge maybe we can make things better. I call on all responsible gun owners to join #GunOwnersForSafety so that we can take our country back. 
This is a call to action for all Americans:
This time can be different but we need every person who wants action on gun safety to stop waiting for permission to protest JUST DO IT and post about it.
We must do as many actions as possible to keep this in the news until Sen vote

If you are a business leaders stop waiting for someone to tell you what to do. Just speak publicly about the need for gun safety and ask others to join in.
