Cases of #coronavirus in #London are⬆️25% in a week, but the breakdown by age shows the highest rises in younger un-boostered ages #Omicron:-

Age 20-24⬆️62% to 2,610
Age 25-29⬆️50% to 3,918

Basically we forage, prepare & preserve fruit, making jams, jellies & chutneys that are shared with the people who've worked on them, with excess distributed through local food banks. So far this summer we've made cherry & elderflower jam from Hackney marshes & London Fields 2/

1/ Situation in #londonfields #hackney over past weeks. Large crowds, small park, saturation take-away alcohol & food. Toilets open & numerous bins but numbers, intoxication & lack of personal responsibility = huge nuisance, public urination & defecation, litter & offending

2/ @hackneycouncil put measures in place– patrols, signage, fencing off hot-spots–but it’s not brought problem under control. Enforcement in park displaces problem. Park is jumble of bins & signs. W/out numbers & real power enforcement under-resourced. #hackney #londonfields

3/ Isn't just #londonfields or #hackney issue but result of: take-away licenses encouraged, lockdown relaxed chaotically, social distancing undermined, park use promoted while toilets closed. Government that couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery managed to cause one in a park

Please please can the park toilets in #LondonFields reopen @hackneycouncil ? people are using the bushes as toilets, in the 'woods' where small children play. It's really disgusting, and hazardous! Until then #hackney people please go home to use the loo!

Also can we start a polite request campaign along the lines of 'please don't shit in those bushes, my 2 year old has just built a den there'.......

Or maybe if you absolutely have to you could at least to do it a plastic bag and put it the bin?

1/17 A #Hackney history focus to your ‘once a day’ AROUND not through LONDON FIELDS. Start London Fields Station built 1872 on Great Eastern Line, 3rd train line to cross Hackney. By c17th this area was part of gardens of big houses built as Hackney spread south down Mare St.

2/17 Take right down Mentmore Terrace and right into Lamb Lane. Note on left remains of stone wall of church school. St Michael & All Angels built 1864 on left at end of road overlooking Fields on grounds of Pembroke House, an asylum for mentally ill staff of East India Company.

3/17 Church demolished after WW2 bombing. Former vicarage now flats on opposite corner. New church built 1960 on other side of Fields. Go left; pass early c19th houses to end of London Fields East facing Warburton House built 1938: slum clearance of 158 houses in Warburton Square

Let me introduce you to this pillar + two plaques, all dated 1870; some of my favourite historic features of the #Dalston & #Hackney area, and my first local historic environment obsessions of 2020. Here’s what I know about them — feel free to tell me more! #IronworkThursday 1/17

The lettering on the pillar helps explains the considerably briefer details given on the plaques. Their “DR S C” = the pillar’s “Revd Dr Spurstowe’s Charity”, an institution with a history that goes back *much* earlier than the ironwork. 2/

The Charity’s roots can be traced back to the 17th century. Its origins lie in the monetary bequest made in the will of Rev Dr William Spurstowe — vicar of Hackney 1643-62, died 1665 — that paid for the construction of six almshouses for “six poor widows”, completed in 1666. 3/
