I think what our remarkable young doctors have shown today is maturity beyond their age & experience. They’ve demonstrated a strike can be held safely without compromising patient care.

They’ve managed to voice out on very important issues regarding their employment, the system they are trapped in & ultimately our public health system.
Dissent is part of a healthy democracy. We shouldn’t be afraid of it. We shouldn’t stifle it.
For our country and people to thrive, we should embrace it. 10 years ago, no doctors will even think about joining a strike, even if we were in a similar predicament.

When contract doctors are threatened with disciplinary action by the Health Ministry, risking being terminated of their service ahead of the #HartalDoktorKontrak strike nationwide tomorrow, I think it is important for @SUHAKAM and @malaysianbar to observe and assist.

Kalau kau MO kontrak dan tetiba mak/ayah/isteri/anak kau terlantar sakit dan kau terpaksa mintak cuti utk lebih 3 bulan tanpa gaji, kau tak layak. Kau akan disuruh berhenti kerja dan mohon dilantik semula selepas dah selesai.
Kalau kau permanent MO? No problem.

Macam mana pulak kalau kau sendiri yang sakit? Contohnya kau accident semasa drive kereta balik rumah sebab mengantuk lepas habis on call. Kau parah sampai terlantar atas katil utk 3-6 bulan. Kau akan diberhentikan dan kau kena mohon dilantik semula kalau masih nak kerja.
Kalau kau nak masuk hospital kerajaan, kau tak layak untuk wad kelas pertama. Kau cuma layak untuk dapat rawatan percuma saja. Member kau yang permanent MO kerja sama macam kau cirit birit sehari pun boleh dapat bilik katil single siap ada TV.
Isu doktor kontrak ni masa kerajaan sebelum ni pun ada dah. Apa yg KKM buat?
Masalah rumit. Bukan bermula setahun dua ni. Bertahun2.

Banyak yg doktor kontrak ni hadapi. Gaji tak setara, Isu cuti, isu nak buat latihan kepakaran, manfaat-manfaat lain..
Memang patut pun mereka marah bila sistem tak mengizinkan mereka maju dalam kerjaya.

Yang bermasalah disiplin & masalah sikap tu kita pun tak kisah sangat. Tak jadi doktor pun tak apa yang macam tu.
Tapi ramai yang bagus, tak dapat teruskan.
