Once again, now after #HighlandPark, people are pointing to the “usual suspects” as causal factors for mass shootings - guns, mental health, and violent media. These are the same talking points since before @MuschertGlenn and I wrote this in 2013: fastcapitalism.uta.edu/10_1/schildkra…. 1/

Don’t let the @GOP or right-wing media fool you. Gun violence affects everyone regardless of where you live. Highland Park sits about 30 min north of Chicago and is 90% White. The Highland Park shooting didn’t happen because of “Chicago’s crime."
The #HighlandPark shooting happened—like all the other 314 mass shootings so far this year —because the @GOP’s gun policies choose killers over our kids.
Robert E. Crimo III was a 22 yr old Trump supporter who was able to legally purchase deadly military-style weapons without background checks because that is what Pro-Killer Republicans in Congress have allowed him to do.
A lot of elected officials spreading misinfo about the shooter in #HighlandPark, and that makes me more and more convinced that he didn't mean to get caught - and this was intended to be pinned on somebody else.

Some observations: #HighlandPark shooter Robert Crimo had some expensive gear in his photos. Uncle/roommate reported him unemployed past 2 yrs. Last job was Panera. Shooter owned a car and a motor scooter. Someone was supporting his lifestyle. Was it his #MAGA dad? #GunGroomers

At first I thought it was the old classic fire truck having engine issues and then I thought fireworks, but then it all registered to me as I noticed people start running towards us.
I picked up my daughter and ran for cover around the corner. I eventually reunited with my wife and my son.

The big story while I was in #Mexico was today’s planned march in Tijuana, called for by President @lopezobrador. He’s called for hundreds of thousands to march on the border to “defender nuestra soberanía”— defend Mexico’s sovereignty, its dignity.
