There was no concept of anti incumbency with PM @narendramodi at helm. But the quantum of victory & the complete demolition of Congress with BJP touching 157 speaks volumes about the enormous love that Gujarat& India has for PM Modi, which no honest data can judge! #Gujarat
AAP was never a player in Gujarat with no takeoff vote, & expectedly had to land at 13-14% vote share. The low voting % was not due to BJP workers not coming out to vote, but Congress surrendering completely increasing the overall vote share of BJP to 53%. 2/n #GujaratResults
Himachal Pradesh saw 10-15 seats being decided in a margin of 1.5% vote, & independents receiving more than 10% votes, 'Pocket' votes polled by BJP Rebels in Himachal have defied every ground reading , & data that could be collected or reflected. 3/n #HimachalElectionResult

Linguistics & genetics both indicate a migration of tribes from #India to the west . Corroborated by historical Records of the #Saraswati drying up & causing migration .

A third indicator is the spread of technology, around 1750BC ancient #Turkey was shaken by the arrival of a people with the new for the region technology of #iron working , with Iron tools & weapons the #Hittite people quickly carved a kingdom dominating the Black sea region.

Next in the series on #excessdeaths that we are tracking State and city-wise across the country: Himachal Pradesh. "Excess deaths" here were just about twice the official COVID19 tally between April 2020 and May 2021:… (1/n)
#Himachal had an interesting pattern. While deaths peaked in May 2021, the excess deaths multiple over the actual COVID19 death count was higher in 2020 (in the 1st wave: 2.8) than in 2021 (1.6). (2/n)
All said, #Himachal seems to be tracking #COVID19 deaths better than other North Indian States for whom full data on death registrations has been available so far. (3/n)

25th January is celebrated as statehood day. It was on this day in 1971 that Himachal Pradesh became the 18th state of India.

Happy Statehood Day! #himachal @jairamthakurbjp @Vipinparmarbjp @KanganaTeam @_MohitChauhan The mountains were his mast...
Himachal is also referred to as "Dev Bhoomi" (literally meaning Abode of Gods) due to its mention as such in ancient Hindu texts and the occurrence of a large number of historical temples in the state.
At the time of attaining statehood Himachal had 8% literacy rate- one of the lowest in the country. In 2011, the literacy rate surged to over 82% and now Himachal is one of the most-literate states in the country.

.@capt_amarinder is presiding over the downfall of #Punjab in every sphere. It's shameful that the state has slipped in rank to 19th in Business Reform Action Plan 2019. During SAD-BJP tenure, the state ranked 1st in ease of setting up of business & for single window reforms. Image
The CM must quit. He downgraded the Invest Punjab dept & now neighbours like #Himachal & #Haryana have outstripped the state. Investors have lost confidence under his leadership. It’s embarrassing for Punjab to rank below erstwhile ‘bimaru’ states.
.@capt_amarinder, you can lead Punjab only if you come out of your farm house & engage in governance. You need to reinvent Punjab Invest office & reach out to the industry & offer incentives to new investors, else there is no future for industrial sector in Punjab.

As mountain states of #Himachal & #Uttarakhand resume #tourism, its the local communities that fear the risk of infection. We look at the example from #LahaulSpiti where locals are protesting against the resumed tourism activities.
Analysis by: @Writer_Rishabh & @stoic_gautamkr
#LahaulSpiti is a tribal district in #HimachalPradesh with limited public health resources. Also, more than 50% population in the district suffers from hepatitis. In such a situation, locals are not happy with visitors coming from highly infected cities for a tour in the valley!
With a population of almost 13000, the district is located in the remotest part of the hill state. #SpitiValley is a favorite place amongst the young travelers coming from mega-urban hubs like Mumbai, B'luru, Nodia etc. But, at this moment, locals are opposing any kind of travel.

At our @Airbnb_in home #VayuKutir, we have now introduced a delightful new experience - A ride on the the #Kangra Valley, #Himachal toy train from Kopar Lahar (around 20-km from from Vayu Kutir) to #Baijnath and back. This is about the best time in the year for the experience.
Kopar Lahar is a quaint British era railway station on a gently sloping lush green hillside. A nearby clear water stream with a small dam and a lot of birds make it an excellent picnic spot all by itself. There are no crowds even when there is a train on the platform.
The heritage look of the Kopar Lahar station, is evident. The clock on the station, as on all stations on the line, is imported from the UK for authenticity. The 2hr 30 min / 60 km journey to Baijnth costs a princely Rs 15/- Yes, even the ticket cost is heritage!
