#MadrasHighCourt hears PILs challenging Tamil Nadu govt's Gold monetization scheme which was announced in the Legislative Assembly recently, whereby unutilised #temple jewellery was proposed to be melted into gold bars.

#MadrasHighCourt issues notice in plea against HR&CE 2020 Rules in so far it allows “fit persons” (appointed in the absence of temple trustees) to select archakas to #HinduTemples. Petitioner argues that archakas not trained in agamas relevant to temples may be thereby appointed

The temples of #Barakar is a fine example of ancient temple architecture found in #West Bengal . A dusty & congested  town in the midst of coal mines, Barakar boasts of a surprisingly majestic group of stone-built medieval temples of SHIKHAR or REKH-DEUL style.
The temple complex is known locally as “BEGUNIA” temples because of the similarity of the shapes of the temples with “BEGUN”(the fruit of the eggplant).There are altogether 4 temples in the complex. First two are typical REKH-DEUL style .
They were built around 1461 A.D, intricately decorated with geometric designs & idols of different Hindu Devi & devtas figures, as well as of some animal figures. There are 3 #Shivlings & an idol of Maa #Kali in the first mandir .
