#LIVE: The #HongKongWay is one of the symbols of the 2019 #antiELAB movement. What is the best way to mark the last day of 2019? Another Hong Kong Way, protesters think. #HongKongProtests

10/01: Within an hour of the #LennonWall being built at Aberdeen Station, pro-CCP Mainland Chinese nationalists are destroying it and intimidating people. Ugly, disrespectful actions.

Part 1:

📍Richmond, Canada.

Part 2:

(not in video but important situational context) Lennon Wall Organizers and event-goers reported on the telegram group that they are being followed by Pro-CCP people as they leave the event. They don't feel safe.

Police stepped in, luckily. Pics coming.
Pro-CCP people, translated:

"It's our freedom (to be here and destroy the wall)."
"China killed people? Hong Kong killed people. Hasn't Canada killed people too?"
"It's you that started insulting us."
"Doesnt Canada doesn't have problems too?"
"Who hit who? No one hit anyone"

A few things which we felt we need to reiterate about #HongKongProtests:
1. HK is not fighting for independence
2. The 5 core demands does NOT include HK independence. If anything it safeguards the 1C2S status quo
3. @joshuawongcf doesn't "lead" the protests. Netizens do.
1/n
4. When the 1st marches/dissent against the bill came, Joshua wasn't even freed yet. Most demonstrators couldn't care less what he thinks.
6. @lihkg_forum is instrumental early on, in particular the G20 ads around the world. They just got nominated in Nikkei Advertising Awards.
Alright that should've been #5.
6. Protesters have been buying their own gear out of pocket. Many HK citizens privately pooled money to buy masks for gears. These are mostly done as guerilla efforts, in groups of 3,4 out on the streets distributing. Their courage isn't any less.

Line is formed in Sham Shui Po, with protesters heading to Cheung Sha Wan bc of a lack of ppl. When I arrived I wondered if the people I saw were waiting for the bus or if they were here for the line... and as if on cue a woman began leading them into a chant. #HongKongProtests

Getting an unintentional mashup between Beyond’s “Under a Vast Sky” (the unofficial anthem of the 2014 Umbrella Movement) and “Do You Hear The People Sing” (one of ~2 unofficial anthems of the #antiELAB protests). Video was interrupted by an airdrop.
