Today, Mayor @JohnTory and the Honourable @HonAhmedHussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) announced the first two Toronto locations under the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI).
These sites will provide approx 334 homes with support services for people in need and will be ready for occupancy later this year. The creation of these new homes is an integral part of the HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan & the COVID-19 Housing and Homelessness Response Plan.

Proud to join Deputy Mayor @anabailaoTO today to announce the release of the Phase Two sites for our #HousingNow initiative - increasing the supply of new affordable rental housing with mixed-income, mixed-use and transit-oriented communities on City-owned lands across Toronto.
Phase 2 of the #HousingNow initiative is expected to create:
✅Between 14,55 to 1,710 new residential units
✅Approximately 1,060 to 1,240 purpose-built rentals
✅Of which half (600+) will be affordable rental units
✅There will also be 470 to 495 ownership units

These are not just housing statistics that these sites represent, these will become long-term homes for working families in our city.
