India as known to #Panini ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಓದಬಹುದು.

2. The view of the main temple of the trikuta and the view of the beautiful hamlet of Belavadi from the left vimana housing the vigraha of Venugopala.
3. The largest open mandapa of all Hoysala temples with 108 lathe-turned pillars, none similar. It connects the two lateral shrines of Venugopala and Yoga Narasimha.

@twistedlogix @TeamGSquare @MadhuraMandya @acharya2 @VVani4U @sathvik_nv @hmvprasanna Next pages .. Leaving apart what happened in the Tamizh lands of Hoysalas, Somanathapura temple having Vaishnava sculptures alone can not probably be taken as an example of rivalry.

The antagonism may have persisted in Srirangam ( back from Chola days)
@twistedlogix @TeamGSquare @MadhuraMandya @acharya2 @VVani4U @sathvik_nv @hmvprasanna Historian speak ;-)

*#Hoysala kings did not build many temples themselevs (just a handful, and majority by others)

*(Few pages later)Hoysalas spent all their money building temples (and thus cause the downfall, is you read betwen the lines)

How to assume these aren't biased?
@twistedlogix @TeamGSquare @MadhuraMandya @acharya2 @VVani4U @sathvik_nv @hmvprasanna #Settar How the Hoysala sculpures were stolen from in-situ at various temples in Hasana dist, taking advantage of the poverty and helplessness of villagers to create the "Best display of Hoysala Sculptures" anywhere in the world. 😡😡

An interesting recent addition to the collection, a book that plunges into the historical linkages of a mammoth epic. The connections are perhaps easier to make as I have visited most of the excavated sites mentioned, esp Kaushambi. Image
More recent additions, these from the world book fair, in Delhi. A massive 3-volume listing of #hiddenheritage monuments in #Odisha. Amazed that the govt's publications division was giving this set away at a throwaway price. Image
More from the book fair: the memoirs of Britain's best known WW II commander and a book on personal anecdotes from the war. Image
