There's a couple of key changes happening in the consumer facing FMCG brands which I think investors need to taje notice of and think about. Investors of #itc #hul #britannia need to think carefully about this. 👇👇
1️⃣ The retailer is becoming ecommerce heavy. Ex: I buy all my grocery on Tata big basket or Amazon. To me this represents a change in power dynamics across the value chain. The ability of Amazon or big basket to bargain is far higher than an offline only limited space distributor
Or a mom and pop front end kirana store. Now how fast this shows up in numbers and depresses working capital for brands is a function of market share of e-retail vs that of offline retail. I'd definitely track this if I were invested in the consumer facing brands.

Answer..... ITC on left!! ImageImage
Look at return metrics!

But HUL over 77% consistently

This is what makes it the leader

ROE, ROIC are valued a lot more by market!! ImageImage

My thread on comparision of both #HUL and #Nestle.. I'm simply doing a forward EPS model here to understand whether the CMP has over/under/fairly estimated the future growth and what is the delta? #Stockanalysis #EPSmodelvaluation
These 2 are stable FMCG giants jointly demanding a Lion's share in the market with very high RoCEs, Stable and incremental positive cashflows and well established brands which are going to continue for generations irrespective of recession or inflation
I can do a DCF to determine the intrinsic value but cases like these where the Quality is nondebatable, One can only look for an appropriate entry. Hence I'm doing a quick forward EPS model simply to understand the inbuilt growth in the price

👎Uninspiring performance over the last 1 year
👎Headwinds in the hair oil segment have hurt recent operational performance
👍25% of the hair oil market is still in the unorganized space and this offers growth opportunity

#Marico
#FMCG
👍H2 FY20 would see better volume growth due to price cuts
👍Improvement in gross margins due to the lower prices for RM
👍In Q2 FY20, copra prices were lower by 10% YoY & Mgt expects prices to remain in lower range in near term
👎Vol growth was also hurt by flood like situations
👍Building/Expanding new biz such as food franchise, skin care, male grooming range & serums
👍This will reduce dependancy on Parachute & Saffola
👍Foods franchise posted strong growth of 34% YoY
👍Modern trade (29% sales growth in Q2) & e-commerce (75% YoY) continue to do well

Friends,
Here is a thread wherein I shall post Trading related observations & answers to some of queries I receive from traders.

It will be a running thread; as and when I come across something interesting shall post here.

(Feel free to Retweet) 'Learning_Mkts'
Q: Why non-directional Options buying, on event day, is not good idea?
A: IVs are already High before event, anticipating post event big move. If one buys ATM CE & PE in hope of big profit in 1 leg overcompensating other, it may not work unless market really rips up or down

1/2
E.g: 11900 Straddle...
Today Vix rose even post #RBIPolicy & closed near High.
Still, rise in 11900 PE couldn't compensate fall in 11900 CE.
Thus, 11900 Straddle kept falling thruout session...

Img1 shows #Vix
Img2 shows #Nifty Spot & 11900 Straddle price at different times... ImageImage
