This is the kind of propaganda that @csiscanada needs to stop as they defame concerned citizens calling for climate action in National news. Disband or change CSIS please. They were useless to stop Truck convoy. @JustinTrudeau @ElizabethMay @theJagmeetSingh @PierrePoilievre
This article states they are concerned about “increase in ideologically motivated violent extremism from people who want to speed up climate change solutions”. 🙄 That is nonsense & defamatory to concerned citizens who’s lives are literally at risk. @CTVNews #hurricaneFiona Image
There were secret meetings sponsored by Enbridge, Brookfield and Bruce Power where government officials, the RCMP, CSIS along with oil and gas reps met up in secret meetings. The last day of the meetings took on May 23rd 2013. vancouverobserver.com/world/canada/h…

Today was the first day I took some time to wander around #PortauxBasques #Newfoundland after #HurricaneFiona and it really hurt. I’m not talking about my feet or my back. I mean my emotional and mental state.
Went to J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park first. There was a couple honeymooning in their little red hatchback with a quiet, pure white husky tethered to a zip line. They were easily 200 - 300 feet inland from where the parking lot used to be.
There used to be a sand dune between the parking lot and the ocean. You’d climb from the lot, cross the ATV trail and get to the beach. Old railroad tiles - cause Newfoundland used to have trains - were visible to the right, just a foot or two poking out of the sand. Now?

Just a guess, but I reckon with the amphibious Littoral Response Group (North) in the Mediterranean on Op #Achillean, @HMSTrent & her @42_commando @RoyalMarines team will probably be heading for the Gulf of Guinea for a bit of anti-piracy work?
While, of course, on the other side of the World, the @RoyalNavy's @OverseasPatrol remains busy, with @HMS_Tamar recently enforcing sanctions off Korea.

Anomaly fields are invaluable for determining various events like extratropical transition.

The 500-hPa temperature anomaly (vs. climatology) shows the trough and Fiona, but it's not a merger. More like a capture.
The warm-core sticks around until the bitter end.
850 hPa temperature anomaly. #HurricaneFiona

The tropical warm-core will survive, remain coherent, up until it doesn't, then it blinks/poofs as midlatitude air wipes it out.
Sequence of 4 maps of 500 hPa height anomaly.

Hurricane Fiona retrogrades into the well of the trough but deepens considerably and matches the scale.

My administration has been monitoring #HurricaneFiona and working to provide necessary support and resources.

I know many New Yorkers are worried about loved ones in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, so I wanted to share an update on the latest:
While there has been some progress in the last 24 hours, Puerto Rico is experiencing significant challenges:
- 1.2 million people have no power
- 27% of the island has no water
- 1,301 people are in temporary shelters

All hospitals are operational at this time.
In any crisis, New York takes action. Our response to Fiona is no different.

Our first group of @nyspolice responders are ready to be deployed to Puerto Rico immediately.

I am in close communication with @GovPierluisi and @luisabinader to respond to their needs.

#HurricaneFiona is the first major hurricane of the Atlantic season, and the already-deadly storm is forecast to intensify even more as it tracks toward Bermuda.

#Fiona is currently a Category 3 storm with 115 mph winds near the Turks and Caicos Islands.
According to the FOX Forecast Center, the center of #HurricaneFiona is starting to slowly move away from the eastern Turks and Caicos and could approach Bermuda late Thursday or early Friday.

#Fiona could become a powerful Category 4 hurricane as it passes close to Bermuda.
A Hurricane Warning is still in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands. A Hurricane Warning means sustained winds of at least 74 mph are expected.

Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for the southeastern Bahamas and a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Bermuda. #Fiona A map showing the watches a...

Over 1 million people in Puerto Rico are without power after Hurricane Fiona caused "catastrophic" damage and landslides.

The power grid is still recovering from 2017's Hurricane Maria and may not be fixed for "several days."

Almost 200,000 people have no access to clean water. ImageImageImage
3,000+ homes in #PuertoRico still have blue tarps instead of roofs after 2017's Hurricane Maria.

The U.S. only gave the U.S. territory 2/3 of what it needed for repairs — after delays by Trump.

Most still hasn't reached communities, and some say they "have to start over again." Image
Up to 90% of homes in Puerto Rico are now reportedly without power after #HurricaneFiona.

The island of over 3 million U.S. citizens is still rebuilding 5 years after Hurricane Maria:
▪️ Only 21% of recovery work complete
▪️ Some forced to repair homes themselves after no help ImageImageImage
