Okay before I share any of this, for the record, I'm not actually critiquing HyFlex. HyFlex, bless its heart, is fine. What I'm critiquing is #HigherEd's continued reliance on garbage can decision making.
While there are some exceptions, I've yet to see any compelling data or argument that HyFlex is better than a well-designed, fully online course taught by an awesome online educator. And the costs in terms of faculty stress and the tech being poured into it continue to amass...
I'm going to try to use this thread to aggregate data on HyFlex. If you know of any, please chime in.
Of course, we already have oodles of data on what works for student retention and completion (wraparound support, supporting faculty in their pedagogy), but I digress...

With the conclusion of #EdCog2020 and my first experience at attending, let alone running an online conference, I'm sharing this thread some of the lessons (#1-8, below) learned as we make plans for next year.
1. Pick a conference theme that resonates with attendees. We chose to focus the conference theme for #EdCog2020: Pivoting to Online Learning. This uniting thread cut across all activities in the conference.
2. Get the best presenters to connect with the conference theme. We were fortunate to have @FiRawle, @cogscimom, @wammesjd, Michelle Cadieux @MacIntroPsych, Jonathan Tullis, @deenakshaffer, @DrDianaBrecher, Paul Denny, @IrinaGhilicPNB , @tsmartini, @JenniferMeka, and @AmyPachai
I'm seeing really meaningful conversations about the interdependence of #facultysuccess and #studentsucces rise up out of the HyFlex discussion, and that's always a good thing, I think.

HyFlex is not going to save us. Bringing faculty (and staff and students) to the table to talk and work and support one another might.
