I’ve got a friend in New Zealand who always wishes me a happy birthday the afternoon before my birthday, and it’s just the sweetest thing.
Last year was my fiftieth birthday, and it was rough in a bunch of ways. But I’m rolling into 51 tomorrow, and I’m ready for it. #ichiroyear
Right on. Let’s go. 
So my kids and I are going to livetweet a movie together on my birthday at the end of the month, and I've been trying desperately to figure out which one to do. Tonight at dinner the 12-year-old came up with the answer: The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T.
5000 Fingers is a beautiful, crazed, preposterous movie that Dr. Seuss brought into being in the 1950s, at the height of his early fame. He hated how it turned out, and never made another live-action movie, but it's truly the most wonderful thing.
(I also just discovered that @missannabiller is a fan of The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T, and suddenly everything makes perfect sense.)
