Last week I attended my first #IIW and had an absolute blast meeting a fantastic bunch of like-minded people and discussing all things decentralized identity.

1. The EU Architecture and Reference Framework (#EU #ARF) defines the direction for the industry credentials
Shout out to @tlodderstedt and Paul Bastian for expertly running a host of sessions on the #EU #ARF and for breaking down the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 VCs.

Type 1 = #PIDs
- A higher level of assurance VC, using either MDL or SD-JWT flavours
Type 2 = Attestation VCs
- A lower LoA VC, using either MDL, SD-JWT or JSON-LD flavours
Both types will use OpenID Connect for Verifiable Credentials for the issuance and attestation exchange

#web5 is a genius marketing move to capture #SEO for what is mostly self sovereign identity #SSI but the key part is, it's the basis for #decentralised #twitter which we saw the first hints of at internet identity workshop #IIW

1/ First up, this is exactly the publicity that #SSI has been missing for global adoption!
There has been a great and growing community beavering away on this for years but the dam is finally breaking on awareness and adoption.

2/ @blocks' #web5 project is being built by longstanding leaders in this community like @csuwildcat.
They're also members of both Chain Agnostic Standards Alliance and @DecentralizedID (as is @cheqd_io). This means it's going to be built in the right way

When I joined, we were growing at crazy speed. The identity industry could not supply experts fast enough, so my first big task was devising an onboarding path to turn potential into identity IQ. Result: a 3 days of full immersion w lectures and labs.

1/ On this day two years ago I chose the term “Self-Sovereign Identity” as the name for a new manifesto of 10 foundational principles for digital identity. It was a rallying cry to start a movement toward human-rights focused decentralized identity.
2/ I was not the first to use the term. The earliest I know of was Devon Loffreto @NZN writing in Project VRM and later in his blog about "sovereign source authority" where he said that individuals “have an established Right to an ‘identity’”. moxytongue.com/2012/02/what-i…
