Today, I will try my hand at live tweeting insights from "A #Home of One's Own", a two-day #researchworkshop on socially & economically #marginalised women's experiences of and negotiations with #genderinequalities in #informalurbanhousing in India.
This workshop has been organised by #JadavpurUniversity (School of Women's Studies), #RabindraBharathiUniversity (Centre for Women's Studies) and #Parichiti, a women's organisation. All three are research partners on a #GCRF project funded by @GoldsmithsUoL.
Since Oct 2018, I have collaborated with Dr. Henrike Donner, who is leading it, to develop #researchcollaborations with #educational and #development organisations in India to implement a pilot study on #genderurbanhousing. This workshop marks the end of the first phase.
Your rights was trampled upon by a rogue officer who was merely seeking any reason to incriminate and extort you. No policeman/SARS has the right to check your phone indiscriminately. You can’t even be searched without being placed under arrest & your lawyer present.
We are not at war and there is nowhere in the world where all citizens walk around with ID cards especially in a country where there is no single document that nationally confers citizenship to anyone as held universally. Stop being conditioned to a life unfit for Cattle.
Let all Hell break lose, stop handing your phones over to criminals in uniform who have lost connection with the purpose of their standard operating procedure. Fight back and stand your grounds without being disrespectful. Our laws have not changed. #illegality
