Solomon and Henrietta Krakauer emigrated from Germany to Barnsley 1891. Solomon made the finest jewellery and timepieces from his shop on Church Street, eventually moving to the grand residence of 4 Victoria Road.
Max, the Krakauer’s eldest son served in World War One against his native Germany, in the Army Medical Corp, ascending ranks from private to sergeant and awarded 3 medals.
