They held them for 444 days, releasing them on the day Ronald Reagan took office, making Jimmy Carter's humiliation (including a failed rescue attempt) complete.

Difficult to say how this will hurt his base support but his base is largely made up of evangelicals. This is a moral and spiritual pass GOP Senators needed to break rank. /End

He’s lashing out now, and is weak — hitting on process, just as the House GOP did.
He’s angry — thought he had all this sewn up. Pelosi and Schumer threw him off.

And McConnell is lying, saying that Clinton’s impeachment was longer while this was 12 weeks.

Now McConnell is basically arguing Trump’s innocence — essentially decided the case even though he’s got to be jury foreman — and only further showing that he can’t be trusted.

The House of Representatives impeached Trump for abuse of power and obstruction Congress.
The charges are now supposed to move to the Republican-controlled Senate where an indictment will be written up and he will face trial.
