Many who became a Full-Time #Trader in the last two years would be in a dilemma because of the volatility in this market.

Be a part-time trader instead of leaving it.

This #thread 🧵will be on what all #strategies, I personally use to generate active #income in the market.
We will discuss positional trading and investing in stocks and then about option trading.

In #Stocks, we don't take any leverage, so risk is lesser, whereas in #Options it is a leverage instrument, so risk is high and it can wipe out your capital.
#Investment #Portfolio:

This is basically my long-term portfolio, which I create for a horizon of more than 5 years.
There are certain criteria which I use to filter stocks in #Investment.

Mostly look for the sector where you know something.

The Various Ways of determining the #value of a #company/#business

It can be tricky to determine to value of a company.
Most businesses hype their numbers while some don't even know theirs.

Let's see how...
I'm gonna try to keep it very simple, nothing too technical here.
🧵
#Asset Approach:
The most common way of knowing the value of the company is by calculating at the value of assets it has (also accounting for it's liabilities obviously)

However, this might not be the best way to value every business.. it might suit some over others.
#Income Approach:
This is by far my favourite, cos I believe the real value of a business is in it's income.

We do this by dividing the annual earnings by its capitalization rate. The C.R is the value that is used to convert a company's annual earnings to its company value.

As was widely expected, the @federalreserve’s Federal Open Market Committee raised the target range for the Federal Funds #policy rate by 50 basis points (bps), to between 0.75% and 1.0%, and announced the start of #runoff of the central bank’s balance sheet.
As previously suggested by the #Fed’s March minutes, the pace of runoff was confirmed today as $95 billion/month ($60 billion in U.S. #Treasuries and $35 billion in Agency #MBS, with a three-month phase-in period.
Also as expected, the statement reiterated that the #FOMC “anticipates that ongoing increases in the target range will be appropriate,” underscoring the seriousness of #Fed policymakers in getting #inflation and inflation expectations under control.

*How #SriLanka got ruined*

Lankans voted for #Rajapakshas knowing very well what they did in the past, including corruption, selling out national assets to #China, #dynastic politics and all.

They still voted for them because Rajapakshas promised things they could not refuse.
1. Their #GST, called VAT Tax, on all products was reduced to 8%, thus making everything cheaper in one stroke. (It also killed the govt revenue). People loved things getting cheaper.
2. The minimum #incometax threshold was changed from 5 Lakhs per annum to 30 Lakhs! Very few earned more than 30L!
A very large part of the population became #tax exempt. This was very popular among the salaried class.

A few months ago, #markets expected U.S. #inflation to peak by mid-2022 at around 7% to 8% at the headline level and then anticipated that generalized #price gains would decline into year end, closing the year around 4%.
However, the tragic war now unfolding with Russia’s attack upon Ukraine has not only sent #energy prices skyrocketing but it has led to much greater uncertainty over #economic growth and #MonetaryPolicy reaction functions, in Europe and indeed around the world.
Core #CPI (excluding volatile #food and #energy components) came in at 0.5% month-over-month and 6.4% year-over-year. Meanwhile, headline CPI data printed at 0.8% month-over-month and came in at 7.9% year-over-year, the greatest increase over a 12-month period since January 1982.

Why "Return on equity" can be misleading?

One #Ratio that is loved by all investors is the Return on equity ratio, and something that holds so much importance for investors, companies sometimes tend to amplify those ratios. Let's see how they do it!

- Ek Dhaaga 🧵 1/15
What is ROE, though?

It measures the profitability of a company. It tells how much money a company generates on the shareholder's funds.

It can be calculated with a simple formula:

Return on Equity (ROE) = Net Income/Shareholder’s equity.

#Ratio #sharemarket 2/15
Easy to calculate, right? All you have to do is find the net income on the income P&L and divide it by the shareholder's equity on the balance sheet. However, this simple metric has several flaws that keep it from being useful.

The fact that you're giving to someone else means that Economic activity grows👇
Even in a #Bank, when you're #investing in a Savings Account, the bank will give you a little interest.

It will give that money in the form of a loan to some company or even give you back the same in the form of some EMI. 👇

Further, at the recent #Fed conference in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and at the press conference, Fed #ChairPowell emphasized that both he and most Committee participants now consider the test of “substantial further progress” toward the #inflation mandate to be largely satisfied.

In August we saw #inflation growth moderate further, for the second consecutive month, at least relative to the impressive rate of growth in #prices witnessed around mid-year.
Core #CPI (excluding volatile food and energy components) came in at 0.10% month-over-month and 3.98% year-over-year, which was considerably less than the consensus forecast and was driven higher by #shelter components.
Meanwhile, headline #CPI data printed at a solid 0.27% month-over-month and came in at 5.20% year-over-year.

Inflation data for July moderated somewhat, at least relative to the heady pace of recent months, which should temper #market and policymaker concerns a bit, despite the fact that #inflation will stay sticky-higher for a while and the #risk remains to the high-side.
Core #CPI (excluding volatile food and #energy components) came in at 0.3% month-over-month and 4.3% year-over-year, a bit less than the consensus forecast, and headline CPI data printed at a solid 0.5% month-over-month and came in at 5.4% year-over-year.
While we think that it’s hard to see a case for the recent levels of elevated #inflation turning into “1970s style” runaway price increases, higher #wages and elevated growth for an extended period will allow companies to achieve higher levels of #PricingPower for a time.

Now that #Oklahoma and #Texas have officially withdrawn from the #Big12-2-2-2, several academic institutions in the league have started the process of backchanneling (while of course remaining committed to the Big12-2-2-2) for a new home.
