Are you using ChatGPT to study?

Smart move, but you can do better.

Enter @LangChainAI. The AI prepares practice questions based on your study material.

Try it yourself on @streamlit. Link and code below. ⬇️

High-level overview of the app 🧵

#AI #buildinpublicn #indiehacker
1⃣ Enter your OpenAI API Key and upload your study material.

@LangChainAI will process the files and generate your questions.

WARNING: Large files (>50 pages) will clean out your wallet quickly.

I've used a 15-page file which cost me around $0.15.
2⃣ Choose the question you want to be answered.

By doing a semantic search on a Vector Database, @LangChainAI will generate the answers to your questions, based on the study material.

You can choose as many as you like.

ChatGPT is great for studying.

But did you know you can use it to help you prepare for specific exams?

With the power of @LangChainAI you can!

Here's a 9-step breakdown including code: 🧵

#AI #study #buildinpublic #indiehacker Image
1/9 A high-level overview:

1. Input: PDF of study material
⬇️
2. Process documents
⬇️
3. Generate questions based on study material and exam guidelines
⬇️
4. Answer the questions based on the study material

You could combine step 3 & 4, but separating them = better results👇
2/9 Let's dive into the code:

First, load and process data for question generation.

I'm using the new gpt-3.5-turbo-16k model for a larger context window.

Result: Less calls to the model and higher context-awareness Image

I got Product of the Day last Friday:

✨ With 0 followers on @ProductHunt
✨ 48 hours of work
✨ 400+ organic upvotes

My learnings👇
(Bookmark for your future launch) Image
1/ You don't need a hunter on @ProductHunt

Hunters = someone who posts your product for you on Product Hunt.

The only benefit?
→ A hunter's followers get notified of your launch.

✨ Build your own following and skip this.

Which means... 👇
2/ You need friends. A lot of them.

A Product Hunt launch is a popularity contest.
Like running for presidency. 💪

You need friends to:
→ Create a PH account (if they don't have one)
→ Vote and comment

p/s: The signing-up process isn't straightforward. Give them notice.

Important part of keywords research (and something I do for my apps @skores_app and @emo_app_ ) is finding NEW keywords.

1st step for me is finding many words by myself. I search for:
- obvious things
- features of my app
- problems users want to solve with my app
#ASO
1/5
Next step is “Show Suggestions” feature in @getastroapp
It’s not available for all keywords and not for all countries, but you can check suggestions for one country and search these keywords in other countries.
#ASO #buildinpublic
2/5
Another thing you can do is to use Show Ranking feature for the keywords relative to your app and check which keywords are used by other apps. You can see keywords from App name and Subtitle only. But these are the most important keywords! Don’t just copy. Get inspired!

In 2016, I went down a rabbit hole to understand the recipe for successful apps.

Since:
• Developed a quantified framework
• Ran it through 100+ apps
• Supercharged dozens of clients' apps for 🚀📈

Here is the entire framework broken down for your #indiehacker app:
It all started on a long-haul flight when I was #hooked by @nireyal's book.

It made sense, but I thought there must be a way to quantify this user engagement thing.

So we developed a framework and put it to test on over 100 apps.

An experiment with surprising results!
While the framework has solely qualitative input, the quantified output was significantly correlated to the measured KPIs.

An increase of 5 points on the framework's 0-100 scale resulted on avg. in:
• 51% more reviews / download
• 48% more daily sessions
• 62% longer sessions

Alright, this Saturday we’re going to use Swift Playgrounds on iPad to start a ridiculous todo app: ToDon’t: where we add things to NOT DO to your todo list so that you can cross them off & feel more productive.

#iOSDev #SwiftUI #iPad

1/n
Starting with the little todo bit I made from Core Data in Swift Playgrounds here: cephalopod.studio/blog/build-an-…

2/n
One thing I want to do is use the new SectionedFetchResults from Core Data so that my crossed off items go to a different area. Also made my task.name a non-optional string.

And I added a bit of animation and voila!

Last week ZenMaid crossed the $100k MRR mark. Boggles my mind thinking back to how BALLIN' we thought we'd be at $5k MRR

Here is some inaccurate knowledge & a couple [random] lessons learned along the way I hope might help some of you
Follow the rules in this Tweetstorm and I can guarantee you...

Absolutely nothing.

Because that's not the way any of this works.

If it were easy/simple everyone would have a successful lifestyle business. Image
If you’re reading this and thinking “I’m smarter than Amar- I’ve built a better product or I’m a better marketer” - you’re likely 100% correct.

I’ve probably just been doing this a lot longer than you which is lesson #1:

Don’t give up.

Because your work & results compound.

#openstartup It's March! February was INSANE for @ClosetTools.

MRR: $4,758 [+36.0%]
New Trials: 134 [+39.5%]
New Customers: 57 [+90.0%]
Conversion Rate: 39.4% [+22.5%]
Churn Tate: 22.2% [–10.2%]

Up until this month it was increasing ~$300/month. Last month it increased $1170 🤯
The majority of this increase was due to shipping some critical features, publishing an official Chrome Web Store version of the app, and an SEO boost. That, and I have built up an 800+ email list of people who have tried the app. Email marketing works, folks!
I took a bit of a break from Twitter for February. I didn't like my relationship with it. I was consuming a lot - and all I was posting was about my successes. I don't like that. I want to actually contribute something valuable to people. Not just show off how much money I make.
