#Racism in the Met Police. These are the words of a female officer who served in the Met for 26 years. I will be sharing her full statement on my website shortly, and also a second 🧵 on the misogyny she faced. Her words are shocking. #InstitutionalRacism #MetPolice (1)
‘I served in the Metropolitan Police Service for over two decades. I thoroughly enjoyed my job serving and protecting Londoners. It was the internal canteen culture that prompted me to make a heart-breaking decision to take early retirement.’ (2)
‘It was never my intention to retire before the age of 55. I had no choice but to cut my losses by losing a significant amount of lump sum from my pension.  It was not an easy decision to make, but it was for the best interest of my mental health and wellbeing,’ (3)

Mr Justice Swift's judgement in which he gives his personal/official approval to sending vulnerable people fleeing for their lives to a nation as far as can be from their families, friends, connections, cultures, possibilities of medical, psychological, social support
all of which they desperately need, means, that the British government has, provided it is in total control of it, legitimised people-trafficking,

His memory loss was less extensive than the other former #spycops we've heard from. But memory loss can be a selective thing.
He clammed up when asked about the events in Southall on 23 April '79 & claimed not to remember anyone in the @metpoliceuk discussing Blair Peach's death.
@metpoliceuk ...even though we know that #spycops attended Blair's funeral, and spied on the subsequent campaigning for justice ever since. Coates said he couldn't remember any discussion of all that within the SDS.

#spycopsinquiry
@metpoliceuk Although he was able to share some clear memories of the offensively sexist jokes & banter he heard in the #spycops safe-house....

1) Morning @GavinWilliamson, just reading the update from @PHE_uk @GOVUK below ⬇️.
gov.uk/government/pub…
2) Wondering how this particular bit of advice ⬇️ will play out in schools & early years settings after #Easter?

Crowded poorly ventilated classrooms w/ up to 30 kids from different households are the very essence of HIGH RISK spaces. Dining rooms/PE halls could even be worse!
3) If I’ve understood it correctly anywhere in the RED AREAS needs extra attention?

INDOORS ✅
HIGH OCCUPANCY ✅
SILENT, SPEAKING, SHOUTING, SINGING, PHYSICAL EXERTION ✅
POORLY VENTILATED ✅

According to Sir William Macpherson, #institutionalracism "can be seen or detected in processes, attitudes & behaviour that amount to discrimination through prejudice, ignorance, thoughtlessness, & racist stereotyping which disadvantage minority ethnic people."
#RacismReport
NOBODY should be surprised that the institutionally racist UK Govt - which fits perfectly the #MacphersonReport definition of #institutionalracism - would commission a #racismreport about institutional racism written by people with a long history of denying institutional racism.
The inquiry found that this institutional #racism extended beyond the Met Police:

"Our conclusions as to Police Services should not lead to complacency in other institutions & organisations. Collective failure is apparent in many of them, including the Criminal Justice system."

“This is a report produced by a govt that would rather belittle the realities of institutional racism in this country than take steps to address it”

Students at Pimlico Academy school are leaving school early because of the protest today.

They are staggering the different year groups out.

Embrassing day for school hierarchy powerful day for students who made the school stand up and pay attention.
1/5
Just spoke with to two year 11 students @ #PimlicoAcademy

They said the school avoided the elephant in the room + said nothing to the students, sent an email to the parents saying they would close early + the leadership (the reason for the protests) hid out of sight all day
2/5 They said problems started with new head teacher 'who seemed to be on a mission'.

He tried to implement Christian hymns, tried to over-emphasis 'British values' in a manner that alienated senior staff who left and were subsequently replaced by like minded ideologues.

Next we hear from Philllippa Kaufmann QC again.
She is now speaking for 'Category H and J Core Participants' - John Burke-Monerville, Patricia
Armani Da Silva and Marc Wadsworth.
She will explain more about her clients, and what they seek from the @ucpinquiry
@ucpinquiry All three were involved in campaigns seeking answers and justice in respect of police violence, racism or corruption.

All three have reason to believe that they or their campaigns were subjected to undercover policing.

Phillippa is now asking for clarification about this. She will not be using Carlo's real name...

I am inclined to admire people for their good intentions, but
why do they so often pave the way to hell?

The very survival of our civilisation, I believe, depends on us finding answers to this question.

I see 2 principal reasons:

1) Good intentions are often misconceived.
2) I'm not the only one inclined to admire good intentions. Most people do, so they confer social status, personal advantage & power on those thought to possess them. Thus, anyone pursuing a political career will virtue-signal their "good intentions" whether genuine or not.
How genuine anyone's good intentions are it is often impossible to judge.

I'm inclined to believe that the intentions of Bush & Blair, for example, in invading Iraq were good, but tragically misinformed & misconceived.

Astonishing. This is the medal given to UK diplomats for their services. It depicts a white angel stamping on the neck of a black man.
#InstitutionalRacism
The black man has dragon's wings. It echoes St George slaying the dragon (the devil/usurper/national enemy).
Did no one in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, or in Buckingham Palace, or among the people who received this medal, ever look at it and think "hang on a minute"?

Or is racism so ingrained in the UK's establishment that this iconography has remained unchallenged?

@taylorwestc @nhannahjones Get better soon. 💗 I am curious about specifically mortgage/derivatives/stocks & bonds markets using Black & Brown/immigrant human capital to enrich investors. I know @BillGates invests in @GEOGroup.... more in thread.
@taylorwestc @nhannahjones @BillGates @GEOGroup @BillGates brought us #CommonCore and with it all the increases in standards+high stakes testing. #PARCC & #SBA are based on standardized testing created for Eugenics, promoted by former philanthrocapitalists. This alone directly adds BIPoC youth to the school to prison pipeline.
@taylorwestc @nhannahjones @BillGates @GEOGroup @BillGates also brought the #MET teacher evaluation project, forcing schools & states to focus on teachers evals as high stakes also. Educators & schools spent tons of time & $ teaching TO the racist TEST, eliminating arts, music, sports, feeding the S2PrisonPipeline again.

@nhannahjones I listened to your #1619Project podcast this week. I learned something new about slavery regarding the mortgages and bonds on human lives. I had known about old money being tied to slavery, but hadn’t realized the banking industry had mortgaged humanity. Outrageous. #Capitalism
@nhannahjones How do we connect those dots to modern era private prison investments? Mass incarceration as a means of legalized modern slavery? #Capitalism #1619Project
@nhannahjones @threadreaderapp unroll my thread about @BillGates and his #Philanthrocapitalism’s #InstitutionalRacism impact via high stakes testing and private prison investments.

@PriyamvadaGopal They been #gaslighting us with statistics showing 0.02% improvement, getting a #Diversity Award fancy venue, picture in press. All the while there is no perceptible change in our lived experience because they own what is ‘knowledge’ & it ain’t lived #BAME experience. @CIPD_Policy
@PriyamvadaGopal First our individual lived experiences are ignored, fragmented into individualised experiences not a whole systemised thing so we doubt our own eyes & ears, sanity. We becme invisible then dehumanised in2 statistics with no names 2save them looking in2 our eyes & seeing our pain.
