Embedding gender considerations and facilitating #women’s participation in project design and implementation along with #inclusive #policies, training, information access, planning, and monitoring is needed
Additional course correction for #SDG5 is needed.
Our #SDG5plus (SDG5+) approach takes into consideration #intersectionality and gender aspects beyond #women alone, & can help #adaptation actions move towards meeting #genderequality and other #climatejustice goals.

The Truth About #OpenOffices
”When the firms switched to open offices, face-to-face interactions fell by 70%.”

#HRM #WorkplaceDesign hbr.org/2019/11/the-tr…
But ”hybrid #openoffice designs are not a panacea. If you are going to let people choose the spaces that best meet their individual needs, your workers might as well be remote.”
#remotework
And #remotework hinders #communication: ”we found that remote workers communicated nearly 80% less about their assignments than colocated team members did; in 17% of projects they didn’t communicate at all.”

#dailyquote #embodiment #interaction

Thread.

Today a famous quote from Lucy Suchman, and also some later reflection of herself on this passage from her book "Plans and Situated Actions" (1987).

It deals with the concept of (mental) plans for action.

The quote goes like this:
"the efficiency of plans as representations comes precisely
from the fact that they do not represent those practices and circumstances
in all of their concrete detail.
So, for example, in planning to
run a series of rapids in a canoe, one is very likely to sit for a while
above the falls and plan one’s descent.

Do you require an #Engineering Degree to join the "#Usability Engineer" post in #Corporate or #Design #Degree holders can also apply?

Recently I saw a lot of opening for Usability #Engineers in Indian #IT #companies. So this query came to my mind, is Usability Engineer
an appropriate term in IT or should it be called Usability #Analyst? A lot of Bachelors of #Interaction Design and Bachelors of #Product Design progress to become Usability Analyst in IT. In such cases would it be appropriate to call Bachelors of Design as Engineers?
How would this affect CMMI, ISO, Accessibility Act, Hazard & risk and other such Standards?
