A short true story.

There was this guy a few years back who raided a prison, took a whole heap of the prisoners hostage and shoved them into some trucks. None of the prisoners wanted to go, but he had guns and shoved them into the trucks anyway and bashed the ones who refused.
He drove them all across country about, god knows how far, but they ended up on somebody’s property in the middle of the night. He didn’t know the property owners at all but he had his guns and his prisoners and he threatened violence, so he rammed his trucks through anyway
to get on to the place. The owners had no idea who the hell he was, they’d never seen the guy before. But, he didn't care, he dumped the prisoners out of the trucks, and when the owners objected he told them all to piss off. Then he shot them for complaining.

Don't get me wrong, I think the situation with the Aboriginal Flag was the best possible outcome in the context. Sadly there will be consequences that none of you thought of, that some of us have been discussing for years. People just don't think things through. A thread.
Firstly, people demanded the flag be freed by the commonwealth acquiring it by financial or legal means. This result, what happened, gives power over our flag to the colonisers. Like I said, it was the only solution on offer but still far from perfect.
Secondly, those wanting to "free the flag" so that they and other mob can monetise it are not going to get what they think they are. They will not be able to compete with cheap knock-off products that will now be legal. You can't sell flag t-shirts for $40 anymore.

#InvasionDay - a thread about Australia Day
1/8 For those who still think British ‘colonisation’ of Australia wasn’t that bad & celebrating the arrival of the First Fleet on 26 January 1788 is fine...here is an article from the Coburg Leader of 1893....
2/8 This is a real newspaper article from 128 years ago which is describing in graphic & appalling detail.....genocide. I apologise if this is upsetting reading (because it certainly is), but it’s really clear that.......
3/8....too many Australians of European heritage are completely ignorant about what really happened. How their & my own forebears took this land and systematically displaced & destroyed First Nations people. Read this & know this. Face this.

1/ Without wanting to be unkind, it's evident from looking at Scott Morrison that he's prefers to be a spectator of sport rather than a participant.
When he ran for Cook, he developed a character. A rugby league loving, everyday bloke, a daggy dad.
#auspol #AustraliaDay
2/ Morrison hadn't followed league but he learnt about it. He became the Sharkies number 1 ticket holder, wore his scarf, waved it, & drank beers.
This character, eventually named ScoMo, was used to gain a following & send political messages.
#ScottyFromMarketing was astute.
3/ Recently, @CricketAus were naughty. They made a decision, after consulting with Indigenous leaders, to promote inclusion. #ScottyFromMarketing was not happy.
How dare a sports body interfere in political matters, he argued.

1) Hey it's time for me to goto bed, but one final thing inre #eggboy/#eggboi. As noted, neo-#Nazi Neil Erikson was one of the 5 or 6 men who, er, restrained the teen; Erikson has criminal convictions for antisemitic (FEB 2014) & anti-Muslim (SEP 2017) actions.
2) Perhaps in order to complete the trifecta, last year (MAY 2018) he was also charged w disrupting a church service -- which involved him & some of his thuggish mates invading Gosford church & scaring some elderly parishoners.

3) He's due back in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on MAY 13 to face charges of riot/assault/affray stemming from the Melbourne date of the DEC 2017 Milo Yiannopoulos tour; joining him in court on same will be his sidekick Ricky Turner & old nazi chum Richard Whelan.

Milo Yiannopoulos was originally gonna tour AUS in May 2018, brung out by QLD businessmen Ben & Dan Spiller ('AE Media'/'Future Now Australia'). After a series of misfortunes, they eventually handballed responsibility over to Damien Costas/@PenthouseAU.

2) In OCT 2018, during the course of negotiations b/w the Spillers & Yiannopoulos, MY took the opp to denounce Costas as a fraudster & to declare that he would never work w him again. A few weeks later, MY changed his tune ...
3) A month after MY's DEC 2017 tour he took the time to wish everyone a happy #InvasionDay. Granted, his racist performances raised a few eyebrows, but his Perth MC, Andrew Bolt, has repaid the favour, & been a determined campaigner on the pedophile apologist's behalf ever since.

#invasionDay #Melbourne Ricky Turner ('Cooks Convicts', below) & Garry Hume tried to cause a scene @ Flinders Street today, w/o much luck. You may remember Turner from when he accosted Police Minister Lisa Neville a coupla weeks ago (news.com.au/national/victo…).
Turner is also #BFFs w Andy Nolch, who was convicted last year of vandalising the memorial to murdered woman Eurydice Dixon -- Turner though Nolch's action was brilliant & a total yuk fest. Other claims to fame include paying a nocturnal visit to Catherine Deveny's house >
> last year & another to the house of rival right-wing provocateur Dave Pellowe (who organised the tour by AltRight figureheads Stefan Molyneux & Lauren Southern). Turner will be joining Neil Erikson & Richard Whelan in court in May over charges arising from the MILO stoopid.

Organisers hand urged everyone to respect the marshals, stay begins the line, and not engage with the counter-protest. “We walk in peace.” #InvasionDay
This is the marshal line out in front of the #InvasionDay march. It is incredibly well organised.
The front of the #InvasionDay march is now past the Russell St intersection on Bourke St, tail still up near Spring St. How good are these guys?!

.@latoya_aroha is here, talking about her experience at the #IndigenousPeoplesMarch in DC. She lost her brother Wayne Fella Morrison who died in custody in 2016. The inquest is part-heard. #InvasionDay
Here’s some details about Wayne Fella Morrison’s death. There is some CCTV of how he was handled before being put into a transport van, where he died. A warning: it is confronting. theguardian.com/australia-news… #DeathsInside
Latoya says she protests every year, “and I am fucking sick of it. Because every year I keep crying, and every year people keep dying.”

She says we need to centre healing in the debate. “Me being here today, this is part of my healing.” #InvasionDay

A thread on jan 26: my mentions are being flooded by people saying “it was a long time ago”, “it was not an invasion” and “you are better off”. These people are some of the same people who complain of a “Muslim invasion” or “Chinese buying Australia”.
If we were not invaded you are certainly not being invaded. If you bought the land fair-and-square so are foreign nationals who are buying land. If we are better off you will be if the technologically superior economic powerhouse called China takes over.
Bear in mind, I don’t believe there is a Muslim invasion and I believe if foreign nationals like the British Vestey company can own land here so can the Chinese.
