Thanks to the 400+ šŸ˜³ #WGAwriters who virtually attended the staffing panel tonight! Had a great time gabbing w/ @WalkerTVWriter @davyperez @MaybeLaurenTy @glenisemullins & @capitalWLD & sharing my thoughts & advice. #TVstaffing is HARD, yā€™all. If I can do it, so can you! #faith
Answering more questions from the Q&A -

Q1: What are examples of questions you ask execs/showrunners during a staffing meeting?
A1: With execs, what they like about the show, where they hope it goes, changes they wanna see, etc. Remember any stories they tell about development.
A1(pt2): With showrunners, Iā€™ll ask show questions & questions based on my exec meeting, but also what they expect of their writers, how they like to run their room, what they think the biggest challenge of breaking the series will be, etc. Make it clear Iā€™m ready for that work!

It is scary to be a writer who is very classically *between jobs* and now suddenly without an agent but I love my union and live for this drama.

Also I know all this stuff feels insidery but I hope actions like this one ultimately help people in other industries take down the capitalist structures that are syphoning money and power away from the workers.
ALSO if youā€™re a showrunner who wants to hire me know that I am extremely fun in a room & on my last job ate upwards of 300 rice krispie treats

1/ So you may have noticed the WGA is negotiating its agreement with the agencies who represent us. We're trying to get them to agree to a Code of Conduct addressing conflicts of interest along with a few other less flashy but important items. #IStandWithTheWGA
2/ This is not a situation we want to be in, of course. But unfortunately, we've been brought here not by ambition or hubris but specifically in response to bad actions, some of which are detailed here. wga.org/members/memberā€¦
3/ The situation is egregious enough that over 700 writers have signed a letter of support for this negotiation, including showrunners such as Shonda Rhimes, Joss Whedon, David Simon, David Shore, Tina Fey ... wga.org/members/memberā€¦

In a recent article on the #WGA/ATA negotiations, the LA Times quoted UTA chief executive Jeremy Zimmer:
UTA was my first agency. Jeremy sent a congratulatory telegram to me in New York the night of my first show taping. (My last name was misspelled.)

Iā€™d be happy to tell Jeremy where UTA lost my trust, and why #IStandWithTheWGA. It has to do with packaging...
I had finished my fourth season on staff and was looking for a job. My agent asked me to meet with a prominent writer-producer, also a UTA client, whose shows I disliked. ā€œJust take the meeting,ā€ said my agent. ā€œIf you get an offer we can leverage it for something better.ā€
