3/ One interesting new development is a UC front group's president saying that Donald Trump's decision to participate via video in a 2021 Unification Church event helped convince Abe to do the same. Police say the suspect decided to kill Abe after watching a video of that event.

2/ This is an offshoot of my older thread, which was more focused on media treatment of the assassination. This thread will be more focused on political news, but I recommend you check out the older thread, particularly from post #29 onwards.
3/ To briefly summarize from the last thread: Japan's Liberal Democratic Party has a decades-long history of ties to the Unification Church, which provides volunteers and voters for conservative politicians. Abe was one of them, but light is being shed on other politicians too.

1) She has a degree in forestry from Tottori University
2) After a couple of years at Sekisui House Ltd. she became a local bureaucrat.

3) After 18 years as a local bureaucrat, she entered politics. In with the hyper-intolerant right clowns (Yamada Hiroshi, Hironuma Takeo, the Nakaharas) orbiting around Ishihara Shintaro, she snuck into office on the coattails of Hashimoto Toru's brief alliance with Ishihara
4) After the Ishin no To broke up, she joined Ishihara's laughably named Party of the Next Generations (laughable because its principals were all in at least their 70s)
5) After NexGen's demise, she joined the Nakayama's weirdly named "Nihon no kokoro o taisetsu ni suru" Party
