Some things to say on
- Kenya's gospel music scene (including church/worship teams)
- ways in which "conflict" is "solved" in church
- current thinking in church around rape/its victimology,
- our socioculture as an allegedly 80% Christian nation
- And, always, sex ed.
Firstly, the Kenyan church has been in private flux about the idea of sex before marriage for decades. Similar to the church in Africa and honestly the black church globally. Folks do it but pretend they don't, which is ripe ground for poor ethics and literacy.
The referenced article re. the two gospel artists and their partner who contracted herpes has many layers. We've already crossed the vanilla bridge into voyeurism and group sex, before even consent, so let's start there, not at "Christians should abstain".

Today, let's make a case for kindness as an intractable part of our sex lives as human beings. Why, you ask?
- wellness is almost impossible without it, and
- lack of kindness is the root/a significant part of the root of SO much pain in our sexual lives.

A lot of the things we first hear about sex come from places of fear, anger and avoidance from our parents, speculation, uncertainty, mockery or scorn from older siblings or friends, fire and brimstone from religion (especially for women/queer folk), etc.

It's #WorldAidsDay2017, fam! Let's talk about MANY exciting things: What new knowledge we have, what we should be reflecting on, and where the world is going. Vaccine, PrEP, sugar daddies, STIs, barriers, and all that all that. Yes? /Thread
The first thing we MUST be grateful for is all the human beings - and they are mostly Africans (this has its problematics. That's another thread) who are in different HIV trials. Drug, vax, behaviour study, etc. Most new knowledge comes through these people. 🙏❤️👑⭐
Let's break it down into 3 overall parts. I'll really try to keep it as concise as I can.
1. Vaccine and treatment
2. General prevention
3. Human behaviour factors

And then we'll talk about what happens from then.
