2/12 When engaging with circumcision in a Jewish context, it is crucial to respect that doing so touches on the extraordinarily personal: our bodies, beliefs, experiences, fears. Many circumcision critics forget this point of empathy when rushing to express an ethical conclusion.

Make no mistake: he is laying claim to *Jewish liberation* itself and telling YOU, ME, AND OUR RABBIS which Jewish are “klal” and who is “chutz l’machane” based on Christian goals for eretz Israel. That’s what’s happening: stare it in the face.
From his appointment as ambassador Dermer nurtured and grew evangelical lobbying and gave them more access to Israeli officials. Israel cannot subordinate Jewish needs for the whims of Christian tourists, but that seems to have been the goal.
