Video by #Ethiopia officer lecturing Somali troops (mostly child soldiers!!) sent to #Gedo: "we are one nation and one people"!!! Ethiopia is no longer even hiding their plans and ambitions in #Somalia!! The is the end of #AMISOM in Somalia!! #Jubaland…
Ethiopian troops have killed 11 civilians and one member of parliament during elections in #Baidoa. They have sent a plane full of soldiers to try and intervene in #Kismayo during elections. How is this country a contributing member of a 'peace-keeping' mission in #Somalia?!!!!
#AMISOM is discredited and now directly and openly involved in Somalia politics and internal affairs!! Exit plan needed and urgently. They went from a 'peace-keeping' mission to a threat to stability of Somalia!!!

Het there mr ‘deputy minister of petroleum and mineral resources’

Since you’re kind enough to voluntarily dispatch such details, may we request disclosure of information which serves public interest instead of just superficial publicity stunts?

Here's a THREAD to help you along
As I’ve mentioned before, not compelling petroleum firms to pay inflation adjusted amounts for accrued fees is theft.

So can you explain if this was deliberate (impotence) or a simple oversight (incompetence)? Who are the lawyers representing #Somalia?

You say they “paid first installment” more than a year after the Concession Agreement was signed which stipulates payment date as “within 60 days” of agreement.

Some questions:

1) Are you saying the contractor failed to pay within specified payment period (breach of contract)?

#Somalia: #Jubaland: now that the formalities are over. The reality kicks in, the truth is. There is no alternative to a compromise and a negotiated settlement between @TheVillaSomalia @SomaliPM and Jubbaland leader Ahmed Madobe.
Defeating each other is a fools errand.@UNSomalia
I say this as one of the most vocal critics of Ahmed Madobe since first election as shown in this screen shot and this op-Ed in @dailynation back in 2012…
The reality on the ground is. Ahmed Madobe has solidified his Ogaden base and have strong strategic depth both in #Kenya and #Ethiopia. Two crucial neighbors whose interests in Somalia can not be ignored. The false belief that @PMEthiopia will help @TheVillaSomalia get rid of

Thread. #Jubaland.

Ahmed Madobe finally gets re-elected despite procedural loopholes;

Abdirashid Hidig also elected by the rival camp through a "mock" election process;

The region remains to be largely divided by the influence of imported politics + regional interests. 1/6.
The fact that any armed conflict was avoided is itself a good development, hopefully every camp will comply

The ball now rests in the court of IC; Somali stakeholders failed to compromise again. History has it that pressure on them will work best in such times. 2/6.
FGS ought to come out of its mute mode & directly engage with the JL admin. Petty calculations based on the 2021 elections anxiety will just tarnish their image both in the region & globally

FGS should also avoid taking sides & character assassinations, at least now. 3/6.

LIVE THREAD: on Current Political Development in #Somalia. Here is my analysis on what's happening now at the federal parliament. First some background. Deputy speaker Muudey dismissed the Parliamentary Oversight Committee last week for publishing a damning report against MoF
The report accused corruption & misappropriation for Minister of Finance Mr. Beyle. The Admin reacted by bribing several MP's in the Committee with $10k each, in addition to dismissing the committee while Speaker Mursal was away for a personal leave in Turkey.
Upon returning, Mursal wasn't happy with the infringement of the Admin in the Parliament. So, he wrote a letter yesterday reinstating the Committee & calling Muudey's move not only baseless but out of the legal bounds.

Mr. RONDOS was implicated in corruption scandal for his role as advisor to former socialist PM of Greek, George Papandreou, in April this year by authorities. This was widely reported by Greek media. #Somalia #Mogadishu
RONDOS' support for Farmajo Administration is credited to the greatest fraudster Mr. Abdisaid M. ALI, the current National Security Advisor to the President. Ali served briefly for EU mission in Somalia as a low-key consultant.
"Alexander Rondos is a citizen of Greece born in 1954 in the Sultanate of Zanzibar (Tanzania). He studied in the UK, was a correspondent for the British magazine West Africa Magazine, and then worked for Catholic Relief Services, an American Catholic NGO."
