At least 38 days before the massive collapse of #KakhovkaDam, a wall adjacent to turbulent flow, broke apart:
A video by @InvestigatorUa from April 28th shows that a big chunk of a wall separating outflow of HPP and the Dam is half submerged in the water.

Another drone video from May 16th shows the same picture: section of that separator wall broke off.
Just to have a separate source of confirmation: satellite images days before the collapse also clearly show that section of the wall broke apart.

1/ This thread rebuts claims made by Mikael "Vatnikersson" Valterson against @Ukrhydroenergo, saying Ukraine's state dam operator, "was the original culprit" in destroying the #KakhovkaHPP and exacerbating dam destruction flooding. A #NAFOWeather 🧵
2/ As "Readers" pointed out, the video Vatnikersson used to "prove" Ukraine sent water downstream to #KakhovkaHPP was almost 2 months old. The video proves nothing. Vatnikersson made no attempt to clarify the temporal discrepancy; the tweet is still posted.
3/ Vatnikersson made several allegations in his tweet that accused Ukraine of destroying its own dam as well as causing post-dam failure flooding. I will unpack these allegations.

Time-series loop from 27 March 2023 to 6 May 2023. Note the "brightening" downstream (left side) of the #KakhovkaHPP sluice gates last frame in loop which is water flowing over the top of the dam. Over-topping is particularly evident on the 3 northern most sluice gates. /2
Why is this happening? Recall the Russian occupiers blew up the road and rail deck above the #KakhovkaHPP dam sluice gates on 10 NOV 2022 as part of the RF retreat ("strategic repositioning") from the Dnipro right bank. /3
