August 2018, a simpler time for us all. @PolarBarrett was providing great city hall +more in Kalamazoo for @MLive. The Kalamazoo City Commission received a recommendation from staff to change city code that many complained unfairly targeted homeless residents.
Proposal in Aug 2018 would ban:
"Any activity in Parks where bedding, sleeping bags, personal belongings or other materials, are established, or maintained for the purpose of maintaining a place to dwell or sleep for a period longer than 2 total hrs within a 12 hr period..."

At @KalamazooCity hydrogen sulfide sensors early this morning -- We see two city park sensors reading above 3 ppb, touching 4 ppb
At the city WWTP sludge facility, we see some readings above 4 ppb, spiking to 5 ppb+.
WWTP and GPI are close to homes.

Pretty excited, I’m taking the train from Chicago to Kalamazoo to visit a friend this weekend. First time taking my bike on @Amtrak #bikechi ➡️ #bikezoo
Journey started on the @cta blue line from Jeff park. I forgot how many stairs there were at the Clinton stop lol (4 flights!) but there’s a nice bike path for the last couple blocks to union station!
Arrived early just in case, and got a little ticket for the bike. They announced a delay but then the line started moving and we ended up leaving pretty much right on time anyway! So far so good 😊

If we fail to get 3,250 voters to do this, there will only be a Republican available on the 4th house district ballot, covering cities like #Kalamazoo, #BattleCreek, #BentonHarbor, #Holland, #Portage, #Saugatuck, #StJoseph, and #SouthHaven. That Republican is absolutely terrible.
Bill Huizenga represents the area of the district in the red square. His old gerrymandered district is in green. He's a no-name candidate in most of the district. He needs an opponent, especially one like Joseph Alfonso who is a Marine #veteran on the state plumbing board.
