At a time of serious peril in NE #Nigeria, @HQNigerianArmy has suspended @unicef's from the region, accusing it of “engaging in training selected persons for clandestine activities”, effectively of terrorism

Just to be sure there is no mis-translation, Operation #LafiyaDole Command claims @UNICEF_Nigeria is “sabotaging the counter-terrorism efforts” through “spurious & unconfirmed allegations bordering on alleged violations of #humanrights by the military.”

The claim by @HQNigerianArmy against @UNICEF_Nigeria is pretty serious. To begin with, UNICEF isn't an NGO; it's an int'l org. Nigeria actually supports its work. If these allegations are real, they shd have bn reported to HQ before now. Were they? If so, wht did they do or say?

JOURNEY BACK TO GUDUMBALI- A THREAD
Few days ago, news broke of a deadly BokoHaram attack on the town of Gudumbali in Borno. Like many others, I was heartbroken. I'd been to Gudumbali during the residents homecoming few months earlier, and felt that ray of hope was fading...
The news from Gudumbali was worrisome, conflicting. So when I got a chance to join in a trip to Gudumbali again, I embraced it eagerly. What did we see?
*The town isnt taken over by BH. We were welcomed by hundreds of excited residents. Most of them never left during the attack
**None of the residents was killed. None at all. It was such a relief to hear that. There were attacks on troops location though. Casualty/Fatality? Minor to none. Details are complicated in this case!! But soldiers are well deployed in and around Gudumbali.
