After months of muting the public the community was finally heard yet councilmembers could not come to concensus even at 3am. Their inaction won't stop us; #LaLuchaSigue

“Rather than a 'City with Unlimited Possibilities', Adelanto has been the source of unlimited pain and torture for our clients. Last night the community spoke with tears in our eyes because we speak for the thousands imprisoned at ADF who fear for their lives every day..." Image
"...We look to Adelanto City Councilmembers to invest in the possibilities that come when you save lives, protect and reunite families and to begin to end the suffering that this facility has caused.” - ImmDef Director of Legal Services, Joyce Noche #ShutDownAdelanto #SayNo2GEO

They have reason to smile: our mother & son clients are some of the lucky few to be paroled into U.S. from MX under MPP during the pandemic. After 8 torturous months, Managing Atty @CargioliM & Staff Atty Paulina Reyes made the impossible possible and welcomed them home! (THREAD) Image
Thanks to our partner SD Rapid Response Network #SDRRN who helped w/transportation & shelter. This is a story of a mother's perseverance in an impossible time. After fleeing political persecution in Venezuela, mom & son landed at the U.S./MX border & were placed in MPP (2/4)
The stress of her life in limbo & the reality of the danger asylum seekers face in MPP took a toll on the mother's health. After facing constant harassment, a kidnapping attempt, two denied NRIs, and a previously denied humanitarian parole req, the mother's health suffered. (3/4)

#ICYMI on the day we tweeted about our win, the same court that blocked the implementation of MPP, reversed its decision literally hours later. DOJ lawyers rushed to defend MPP. What they are defending is a policy that has resulted in egregious state sponsored human rights abuse.
That morning our OTG San Diego/TJ team began furiously organizing, connecting w our cross border partners, sending out mass volunteer call outs, coordinating a 4:30am KYR clinic at the POE. Of course, this all happened on the weekend of a major move. *actual gif of AOL assembling
By nightfall, word spread that the decision had been reversed. Of course working in immigration law in the age of Trump means nothing is for certain. It means having gone from being able to give clients straight answers to 🤷🏽‍♀️ if we’re lucky CBP, DHS, ICE will follow its own laws.

In no particular order, here are some of our favorite Grayzone reports of the year...

We begin with @maxblumenthal and @dancohen3000's exposé of Juan Guaido and his regime change puppeteers, at a time when he was unknown even to most Venezuelans:

@MaxBlumenthal @dancohen3000 2. @MaxBlumenthal blew up another interventionist deception, revealing how right-wing Venezuelan hooligans burned trucks full of US aid while Washington claimed that Maduro did it.

(The NY Times got to this weeks later)

@MaxBlumenthal @dancohen3000 3. @anyaparampil's exposes on Venezuelan coup leader Ricardo Hausmann resulted in him resigning from his job at the Inter-American Development Bank, but only after throwing a WhatsApp tirade:
