This is šŸ”„ again.

Rishi Sunak accuses Liz Truss of Ā£40bn of unfunded tax cuts.

Truss insists sheā€™ll start paying down the debt in 3 years. ā€œI donā€™t believe this negative declinist languageā€.

How do they erase these attack lines once one of them becomes PM?

ā€œThis is scaremongering! This is Project Fear!ā€ says Truss.

ā€œI remember who was on the side of Project Fear in the referendum and it wasnā€™t meā€ says Sunak.

ā€œMaybe Iā€™ve learnt from itā€ replies Truss.

Sunak has really come out fighting tonight - real underdog spirit. He is coming across as much more assured in his economic argument, but this was always going to be his strong suit and suspect Conservative members will still like Trussā€™s talk of tax cuts. #BBCDebate

Tory MPā€™s start voting for the next round of candidates to go through in the #LeadershipDebate in half an hour.

For what itā€™s worth, I think @RishiSunak & @KemiBadenoch & @trussliz should be in the final 3 and I wish the @SkyNews debate wasnā€™t cancelled.
@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews All 3 candidates offer something different, and as our country goes on to face the biggest economic challenge, itā€™s worth having the market of ideas be explained & the mistakes reflected upon. I donā€™t think of them as ā€œattacksā€. People learn & grow from challenging times.
@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews Rishi & Kemi offer a fresh diversity, but they also offer fresh ideas. Weā€™re going to need fresh ideas & bold decision making to tackle the tough times ahead. Liz offers experience & a deep understanding of the Union.
I hope a future Government contains all 3 of them in cabinet.

#LeadershipDebate points missed (or deliberately avoided by Johnson): we donā€™t know all the facts about this case yet, and we wonā€™t know for some time - the inquest could take up to 2 years. We donā€™t know why Khan killed, or what, if anything could have been done differently 1/
to prevent it. Letā€™s have an enquiry, not a witch hunt. Secondly, there is no justification AT ALL for cutting the early release tariff from a half to a third of sentences for all sentences over 4 years that carry a maximum life sentence; thatā€˜s just trying to look tough 2/
on the backs of other prisonersā€™ suffering; if prisoners have engaged with rehabilitation & turned their lives around, why should they be punished for what Khan did? How will keeping them in for another few years keep public safe if they get released then with the same lack 3/
