BA ist Mitglied der Bacillus cereus sensu lato-Gruppe, nebst dem, als Lebensmittelkeim, auftretenden B. #cereus (BC), dem Insektenpathogen B. #thuringiensis (BT) uw. Prinzipiell kommen alle Vertreter natürlich in Böden vor und kommen dadurch mit dem Menschen in Kontakt. 2/
Genetisch ist die Gruppe de facto monophyletisch, sprich, sie hat wohl einen gemeinsamen Vorfahren. Das macht sie gut rückverfolgbar - wichtig für #Bioforensik, weil man dadurch eine ganz gute Linie ziehen kann, woher eine pot. Infektion herkommt. 3/

So far, we have #tuberculosis on the differential. “Consumption” or “#phthisis”, wasting away, as #Tb was often referred to, certainly could explain this patients weight loss and adenopathy.
