The @DPearlProject investigating Danny Pearl's 2002 murder was inspired by the Arizona Project, an investigation by the friends of crime reporter Don Bolles into his 1976 killing. Police now arrest a Vegas politician for the murder of reporter Jeff German.
yahoo.com/news/police-se…
The murder of Jeff German, 69, is chilling + must embolden reporters. An old school reporter, covering mob corruption. This article is brilliant about an endangered species: "a dyed-in-the-wool newsman." My sympathies to his pals @reviewjournal + Nevada. reviewjournal.com/crime/homicide…
Jeff German @JGermanRJ lived my #lifegoals: “It didn’t surprise me even at this latter part of his life he was still a working reporter,” said @MobMuseum VP @GeoffSchumacher. “He liked digging for stories." I'll be listening now to his podcast Mobbed Up. reviewjournal.com/podcasts/mobbe…

"He never trains tired"

"Regular exercise throughout life is the way to good health. Now everything has to be so hard and extreme. Then it quickly becomes that larger groups drop out of exercise at all"

Ekerete’s Tale

1./ At the dot of 4:30 a.m. Ekerete’s alarm began its insistent and annoying buzz. As he had done for the past 3 months since he chose that sound, he silently promised to change it to something more pleasing. But he knew he wouldn’t.
2./ His previous alarm setting had been a pleasant tune that made him want to linger in bed. After one too many incidents of allowing himself be led astray by the alarm and oversleeping, he changed it to this one that roused him and sometimes made him want to smash his phone.
3./ In response to the buzz, Ekerete stretched and reluctantly yet determinedly got out of bed. On those past few occasions that he’d deceived himself and lingered in bed, he paid the price by being on the ‘standing only’ BRT queue, catching a later bus,

EXCL: As Rhondda goes into lockdown, Welsh First Minister ⁦@fmwales⁩ speaks exclusively to us on #ITVActingPM podcast.

He talks candidly about difficulty of getting PM to talk to him & how some in Westminster see devolution as a “terrible mistake”. itv.com/news/2020-09-1…
Also fascinating on how:

- Covid has been a crash course in devolution for many
- Decision-making in Cardiff Bay may accidentally be feeding appetite for Welsh independence
- A referendum would only be offered if Plaid Cymru win an election
- Coalition possibilities come May
This week I even managed to get a bit of Welsh on the podcast #lifegoals 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Going through my mom's old photos. Damn, I'm not sure what happened, but I was cute once.
Also, how the hell did my mom not remarry after my parents' divorce?
My 87-year-old aunt, on her 66-year marriage: "Friends asked, 'he's a traveling salesman. How can you be sure you can trust him?' I'd say, 'I can't. But as long as he doesn't bring her home, so what?"

Note that our most recent genealogical common ancestor was one of the millions of people alive at that time, and was no one special.
I can claim that the last genealogical common ancestor of humanity lived in Africa or East Asia, and have a similar chance of being right. 2/n
On a personal level, I find the hypothesis strange. There's nothing special about being descended from this common ancestor. Millions of people were born before this (mostly meaningless) genealogical common ancestor and were just as wonderfully human.

Super Pumped is definitely the best book ever written by a poop bear (@MikeIsaac). Much more an investigative journalism book than a classic “biz” book. Selfishly I was hoping for cohort curves and stuff. But it’s a thorough, engaging look at Uber’s history. 2 best parts follow.
It’s well known that @matt_levine has the best footnote game in the land. But Mike took it to a new level here. Absolutely phenomenal work.
After Kalanick was fired as CEO, what would he do? Turns out he spent a few weeks on Barry Diller’s yacht cruising the South Pacific because wtf not.

Add “known for throwing killer parties in Tahiti” to the long list of #lifegoals inspired by Diller

Launch plan is the half the battle, sticking along the path and surviving the long winds of winter is the real test while you dream for the spring to come.
Though all these months, even when I was busy adding features, fixing bugs, trying different ways to monetize it and rooting to win golden kitty award (lost by 4 votes 😝), I never lost sight of what's important, the USER growth.

Bapak memang punya kenangan tersendiri tentang Gunungkidul.
