The Conservative Party and the Government have long coveted a @BBC purge of unfriendly presenters.
Today they tested they decided to test the ground by purging a particularly high profile one.

They obviously prepared the ground for it through the tabloids headlines yesterday, and they thought they would probably get away with it without too much furore.
They probably already had someone lined up to replace #lineker.

One thing — as @GaryLineker admits, the @BBC (& the West writ large) failed to hold #Russia to account in ‘18 (amid FAR worse crimes/abuse). Time to acknowledge there’s probably a reason why. Nobody’s willing to go there, though.
