For those not realising how severely Lismore has been impacted, amongst houses and shops that went under, also police station, fire station, centrelink, disability services, op shops such as St Vincent's, Lifeline etc, all went under water. Looting is rife and many ...
cars and homes that survived the floods are now being subjected to break ins. Have heard various reports of vehicles having windows smashed in by bricks or tearing off their mirrors to smash to look for change. My daughters last pair of shoes was stolen from the back door.
Lismore is a regional city and centre for the Northern Rivers and we're suffering in many ways.

This #iwd I’d like to shout out my mum, who lives on the GC, has spent three days delivering hot food and supplies to the northern rivers, & who plans on going back tomorrow. With permission these are some of her observations from being down in #Lismore, Murwillumbah & Coraki a🧵
2/ “We delivered this and more food yesterday. The green portable Bain marie is on loan and keeps food warm for 8 hours. 3 people cried yesterday and so many said they only realised yesterday they do need help and the gesture of feeding them a hot cooked meal meant so much.

I'm reading stories from the #LismoreFloods. Two-story homes underwater. People screaming, trapped inside their roofs. Seniors drowned inside their homes. I'm crying, and I'm worried for friends and family that live in Lismore. This is a catastrophic flood.
It's a flood so high that they're calling it a "Once in 1000 yr flood." But this was predicted. Climate change will increase the frequency and severity of extreme rain and floods. This flood is a clear failure of global leadership to treat the #ClimateCrisis as an emergency.
Yesterday, while Brisbane and Lismore were underwater and people were fleeing for their lives, our elected MLAs in BC were arguing about which party (@bcndp vs @bcliberals) were more supportive of fracked LNG exports.
