#Evusheld is a drug designed to protect clinically vulnerable people against Covid in cases where vaccines don’t work. Evusheld is given prophylactically (that is, in advance) to stop people in this situation developing severe Covid in the first place.

It is impossible to get #Evusheld in the UK, either on the NHS, or privately. Yet it is now available in other comparable countries, such as France, Canada, Israel, & the US and it works. However, the UK Gov't has not yet procured a single dose, despite approval by the MHRA.

2 of those 10 MASKLESS ppl were patients with suspected #COVID19.
All said they didn’t have a 😷…(they had to have one to get through reception!)
They were, as you can imagine, less than pleased when I informed them that they MUST #WearAMask when in a hospital, because…

In the weeks since Jul 19, we’ve seen the slow but sure abandonment of #COVID restrictions
V few 😷s in indoor public places, 5-10% ppl are still wearing them, if that.
Festivals are happening, nightclubs are open, there’s virtually nothing that’s out of #Covid19UK bounds.

I think much of the incoherence & backflips in #COVID19 response, esp in rich countries, came about b/c ppl don't understand who ICU teams are & what they do

Firstly, it's TOTALLY MEANINGLESS to talk about death or mortality rates in a pandemic without talking about ICU teams
If you are in a rich country with a functioning health system there is ALWAYS an ICU team standing between you & a potentially avoidable premature death

We're NOT used to thinking like this b/c epidemiologists & ID normally think either about outbreaks of deadly diseases in places w/out ICU teams Ebola in Africa) OR non deadly diseases in other places where ICU is irrelevant - gonorrhoea is embarrassing, not life threatening
