This is a long but important thread about my experience as an #AfricanNovaScotian woman who was #raciallyprofiled this afternoon at #TheSource store in #Elmsdale, #EastHants #NovaScotia.
An open letter to #TheSource, Elmsdale location, please tell your staff that consumer racial profiling based on a person’s colour is a violation of the #NovaScotiaHumanRightsAct.
After searching various stores online this afternoon, I went to the Source to purchase a new Canon printer because I always purchase ink here and have always received great customer service.

Barber quotes @WesleyLowery, which is good, but misses his point: that these institutional notions of objectivity, impartiality, trust were fictions those in power told themselves because they had the power to do so. It was journalism's fatal tautology. 3/

Last week in NOLA for #nytcities, I got to explain an emerging theory @elizinmotion initiated about how and why people from the suburbs are breaking our cities even as they redevelop them. #livingwhileblack
I also shared a bit about the myth of exceptional black kids I'm often considered part of.
In cities, black people are like "the placeholders for future artisanal food truck industries." More on my theory of what's happening to our cities
