1/6: The current German Center-Left/Center-Right so-called "#GrandCoalition" #GroKo is now without a #majority in the polls. This increases the likelihood that #Merkel's departure in fall 2021 will not only usher in a change of government and #chancellor.

2/6: The #Bundestag elections in September 2021 will seemingly also herald a new era in #Germanfederalpolitics - in the form of an entirely novel #governmental #coalition. Image
3/6: Both, the so-called Black-Green Coalition, i.e. a joint government of the @cducsubt and @GrueneBundestag, and the so-called Traffic Light Coalition, i.e. a joint government of @diegruenen, @spdde and @fdpbt, would be a first in Berlin. Image

"Those being vaccinated now are, whether they realize it or not - part of the phase 3 experiment. They're part of a #vaccination #experiment. And the companies have openly acknowledged this in their reports to the regulatory agencies." - Dr Byram Bridle

Nearly a year into the global coronavirus pandemic, scientists, doctors and patients are beginning to unlock a puzzling phenomenon: For many patients, including young ones who never required hospitalization, Covid-19 has a devastating second act (wsj.com/articles/docto…).
For many patients “the disease itself is not that bad,” but symptoms like memory-lapses and rapid heart-rate sometimes persist for months. “I haven’t really seen any other illness that affects so many different organ-systems in so many different ways” (wsj.com/articles/docto…).
Zijian Chen of the Mount Sinai Center for Post-Covid Care described colleagues who were energetic, but after getting sick, had trouble getting through the day. He said he has seen up close how Covid-19 still affects their ability to do things they love (wsj.com/articles/docto…).

What's so ironic about all of this is that EVERYONE knows it doesn't have to be this way.
We have a 50-yearlong storied and iconic franchise that has inspired nearly all of our extant technology and "progress"....what's sad to me is that we've spent BILLIONS of dollars
investing in something that most fans think can never actually be achieved in our lifetime.
That's sad.
If you're a Star Trek fan and you think we can't make Star Trek a reality in our lifetime, you're missing the whole point.
We don't need WWIII or #FirstContact w/aliens
in order to make the world work more similarly to the way it does in @StarTrek.
Why not? Well, #1 problem in our world is hunger. We have 3D printers we can make guns with, but not food? I'm sure we're well on our way with lab-grown meat eh?
What's next?

#TacticalVoting. A thread.

I ‘m not sure people ‘get’ tactical voting. In principle we understand the idea of not voting for our first choice in order to influence the parliamentary maths.
(1)
But we are still drawn, magnetically, emotionally or tribally, to the person or party we would like to win without objectively assessing whether that person actually has a chance.
(2)
This is not a #referendum. If the person you vote for does not win, you are left with nothing. (3)

Ah, the #EuropeanParliamentElection knocks at the door! Let’s see who is #campaigning for what…In #Italy, a #rightwingcoalition calls for a #guaranteedincome, #largerpensions, and resistance to the heavy-handed #austerityprograms enforced by the #EuropeanUnion.
In #France, some #rightwinggroups champion #fight against #climatechange, decry #exploitation of #foreignworkers, growing #economicinequality. What about the #centerright and #centerleft parties? #Polls show they will lose their #majority, and the Euroskeptics bag 30+% of seats.
However, #Euroskeptic, like #populist, is a term that obscures more than it reveals. #Spain’s leftist #Podemos isn’t likely to break bread with #Italy’s rightist #NorthernLeague-#M5S, but both are considered #Euroskeptic. Some are really #wolves but wear #sheepskins.
