@USIRCOnline rebukes the recent hit job made against #India in the New York Times @nytimes from a coalition of groups, which includes the @IAMCouncil & @Hindus4HR.

We want to rebut each one of their points (1/9):
1. There is no systematic discrimination against minorities in states led by @BJP4India. In fact, the BJP leads governments in states with large Christian populations like #Goa & #Manipur. India's top corporate titans are minorities from the Jain & Parsi communities (2/9)
2. The Citizenship Amendment Act (#CAA) is a humanitarian gesture that gives citizenship to refugees from nations that neighbor India. Those refugees are non-Muslim precisely because they are fleeing Muslim-majority countries with a record of persecution against them (3/9)

Short #Thread:

Though heavy rainfall is the trigger, our construction practices of where and how are the biggest causes behind some of the most devastating landslides that are costing both lives and money for us.

#landslide videos from South Garo Hills...
Rain is just the trigger. If you notice the trees are mostly #Plantation trees, Betel Nut... Once these hills were thickly covered with multi species trees.
But with new plantation economy, illegal coal mining, rampant boulder quarrying and topped with obsessive road making - these hills are scarred and destabilise.
Whether it is Haflong railway station or now Manipur - in the name of bringing empire of development - hills are being bulldozed through. These are not acts of God but acts of deliberate destruction

Shri Govindji temple Kangla; Imphal, #Manipur

The Temple of Shri Govindaji at Kangla—is larger & more elaborate in design than the earlier ones. It was originally built by King Nara Singh (1844–50) in 1845, but was destroyed by an earthquake that struck Manipur in 1869.
The existing temple was built by King Chandrakirti (1850–86) based on the original design. However, literary evidence suggests that King Nara Singh was not the first to build a temple of Shri Govindaji in Manipur.
Worship of Govindaji (the cowherd Krishna) is an important part of Manipuri Vaishnavism that began around the second half of the 18th century when King Bhagyachandra declared Shri Govindaji the real king of Manipur and himself Vishnu’s servant & representative of Vishnu on earth.

Shri Govindaji temple, Imphal; #Manipur 🚩

Located in the capital city of Manipur the temple was built by Maharaja Nara Singh of the Kingdom of Manipur who got the temple fully completed on 1846.
Original structure of Govindaji temple was ruined to a great extent by the earthquake of 1868. After which this temple was rebuilt in 1876 during the reign of Maharaja Chandrakrishna.
It is believed that Maharaja Jai Singh, who was an ardent devotee of Prabhu Krishna, had received orders from Sriman Narayana to build a temple for him. After which he got the temple built inside the palace itself.
