Three whole retweets. It won't get many more. I've learned that most people on Twitter simply don't have the courage to actually want to promote prospective solutions. Hand-wringing is less risky. Maybe it just feels too dangerous. Would you rather have a civil war?
.@goangelo If even a handful of big-brand celebrities actually called for #ReformingFoxNews, advertisers would crap their pants within an hour and @FoxNews will stop their daily lying and misinfo within DAYS.
We need a simple project statement they can embrace & RT. A lot.
Ignore the polls and get out there and #Vote on November 6th. Relying on polling is a relic of a time gone by.
I’m not saying looking at @FiveThirtyEight’s model and charts and stuff isn’t cool, because it is and provides some insight. But no matter what the numbers say, it’s most certainly NEVER an excuse to not #Vote because you feel your peeps are a “lock”
Need nothing further than to point to 2016. Which by the way, @FiveThirtyEight didn’t really have wrong, but the “selected not elected” mindset existed before 2016. Why else would over 100 million people choose NOT to participate in their civic duty to choose their leaders.
Interesting report from @QuorumAnalytics tracking social media mentions of key issues by Gubernatorial Candidates. Tracks Education, Jobs, Healthcare, Medicaid, Opioids, Trump, Immigration, Taxes, & Guns by party/Candidate. (1)
Sometimes it can be difficult to be absolutely sure if an account is automated. @jogman308 is an example - this account doesn't post round-the-clock, and all tweets are via the Twitter website. There are reasons for suspicion, though.
First, very little of @jogman308's material is original - 99.9% of tweets are either news site links or retweets. We were unable to find any hint of personal backstory. These charts of media sources and keywords used provide an approximate picture of the content.
There's something odd about some of @jogman308's tweets linking to news sites - in some cases the headlines in the tweet text are paired with the wrong article. Could be human error, but could also be a sign of a script gone awry.

(1) White House will forward FBI report to Sen. Grassley’s Senate Judiciary Committee today.
Republicans have narrow 51-49 Senate, in event of 50-50 tie, VP Mike Pence would cast deciding vote on Judge Kavanaugh’s behalf.
(2) FBI probe launched Friday as Judiciary Committee vote on sending Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to Senate. Mr. Flake voted yes, but asked FBI to give week for background check into allegations by Ford, Deborah Ramirez, who says Judge Kavanaugh exposed himself to her in college
"Just walked up to Kavanaugh as morning session ended.
Put out my hand to introduce myself as Jaime Guttenberg's dad.
He pulled his hand back, turned his back to me & walked away.
I guess he didn't want to deal with the reality of gun violence."
Fred Guttenberg, whose 14 year old daughter was killed in the Feb 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, said he tried to introduce himself to Kavanaugh.
Video of the encounter shows Kavanaugh looking Guttenberg right in the face before turning & walking away without a word.
Since his daughter’s murder, Guttenberg has become an outspoken gun safety advocate with many of the survivors of the shooting that left 17 students & teachers dead.
Rubio has an A+ rating, & has taken $3.3 million from the NRA. He is just one of many R’s (Cruz) who are handmaidens to the gun lobby. The safety of the public is not as important as their #NRABloodMoney.
This is probably the most common argument heard from gun advocates. It’s true that guns can’t kill by themselves & DO indeed need someone to pull the trigger... Guns don’t kill people, but allow someone who WOULD kill much easier, faster, more lethal means for killing. #GunReform
As we wrap up #GSU18, I want to thank the 1,000+ volunteer leaders - including 300+ gun violence survivors - from 47 states and DC, who attended. Just 5 years ago, I skyped with 5 women trying to figure out how we could build @MomsDemand. As of last week, we are 5 million strong.
Because this movement is powered by love. "A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path," Agatha Christie
From Prohibition to child labor laws to civil rights to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, women – particularly women of color – don’t back down when children are in danger, they double down.
In other words, if you threaten our families, you answer to us.

On this day two years ago, I joined dozens of my colleagues at a sit in on the House Floor to protest Congress’ failure to address gun violence
Since the House sit in, we’ve introduced bill after bill in Congress to finally address this epidemic—including bills to expand background checks & ban assault weapons—& the American people have spoken loud & clear through protests like #MarchForOurLives
But GOP leaders in Congress have refused to act as more and more mass shootings have taken more and more innocent lives #Enough
I'm so tired. So heartbroken. More kids. Another school shooter. This is our normal now. We don't have to accept it, though. When I was 17 & reeling after the Columbine shooting, no adults told us that it would be ok, that someone would stop the madness. 1/
We stumbled around, feeling blindly for the edges of our grief. Personally, I thought it was a one-time thing. I thought it was an isolated horror. I thought Littleton must have been a special town, & that we were special in our sadness, terror, & anger. 2/
I was wrong. Littleton, CO is the same as Newtown, CT, Parkland, FL, and Santa Fe, TX. My community was the same as theirs. Our shooters just happened to do it sooner. Even the pictures of survivors & parents crying are the same. Same emotions... different faces. 3/
So I was in DC yesterday, hut I skipped the White House Correspondent's Dinner. It's an event I dislike. 1. It's not fun. 2. It's boring. 3. I dislike the idea of putting on a gown to both party with and mock people reporters are supposed to be covering. 1/
Instead we held our DC #powHERful Summit for girls. Approximately 200 young women (HS and college) were hosted by the @USChamber Foundation. Their building is 105 years old and gorgeous!
We over-index in girls of color and girls who might struggle financially, but our event is open to all: @WWLTV 6p anchor (and my mentee @ShebaTurk emceed as sge always does!
The United States does not have a monopoly on crazy people. It's not the only country that has psychosis. And yet we kill each other in these mass shootings at rates that are exponentially higher than anyone else. Well, what's the difference?
The difference is that these guys can stack up a bunch of ammunition in their houses, and that's sort of par for the course.
Only with gun violence do we respond to repeated tragedies by saying that mourning is acceptable but discussing how to prevent more tragedies is not. But that's unacceptable.
1. Dear You-Who-Can't-Understand-Why-I-Don't-Adore-Bernie:
I apologize for the length of this thread but I feel it is necessary to explain why there's a huge segment of #Democrats who can't stomach him. Let's first start with him - aside from attending one protest in college
2. where he was arrested and released, and claiming to have attended others, his record on civil rights is scant; as is his record on LGBTQ rights, women's issues and anything else that doesn't have to do with seizing the wealth of those detested "millionaires and billionaires"
3. he's obsessed with taking down and "redistributing" it. He was a back-bencher, quite literally, all his life. In 2015, mostly because of his dislike of the Clintons (one of those families who's wealth he'd like to seize) he (regrettably) got on the ticket for the
A group of Black students from Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High called a press conference today to say they have concerns that may not mirror those of their white peers. And that the media should listen. #MSDStrong
Kai says while some might feel comfort to have more police officers at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, he does not. He says it's intimidating & that black students will face most of the consequences of an overmilitarized predominantly white school.
