#ImmunoEquity we have seen some increases in white and Asian women, but not in #Hispanic, #Black, or #Native women over the last 15 years and how intersectionality plays in this -Dr. @LabFairfax 2/

I’ve continued to see a divide in #pain community, a lack of support as well as pretty blatant attacks. My position: none of us speak for the entire community. We all have are personal stories. Each is unique and sacred. Pain occurs on a continuum and there are 1/
a variety of variables involved. As a parent what I want is a wider variety of options that is paid by insurance, I want voices to be heard, I want individual care, transparency and partnership with physicians & HCP. I want accessibility in the community I live 2/
I want a coordinated approach that is patient and family centric that takes into account barriers of treatments. When I say I want a variety of strategies & treatments I absolutely mean it. My kids have utilized ACT and CBT in a variety of settings. Sadly in only 3/

Announcement from @fordnation sank my heart today. As an ER doctor, person of color and #Scarborough native, I feel defeated 😢. The measures are not going to get wave 3 under control. #BIPOC #ERdoc @SHNcares @torontolife @JustinTrudeau @SCMirror 1/
When I landed as an #immigrant in #Canada, my life started in #Scarborough. My parents (#heros) struggled to find jobs that matched their education. That didn't stop them from working hard / hustling even if it meant 2 jobs at times to keep bills paid and food on the table. 2/
My family lived in an apt building that had mostly racialized/middle-low income families (#affordability). Not much social distancing when large crowds wait for elevators (#EssentialWorkers) or use the shared laundry facilities. This pandemic brings back those vivid memories 3/

I found out that the person in charge of the job that I left (because of a toxic/ableist environment) shared the social media posts I made (about my resignation) with the team and said I was unprofessional.

This demonstrates a huge difference in how we operate. I believe in transparency & accountability. It’s how I’ve gained my reputation & community trust. My work belongs my communities. Plus, I was very diplomatic and held back in what I posted.

It’s frustrating because accountability & self-reflection are what that project needs. He goes after me instead of addressing the real problem & focusing on self-reflection (after losing two queer, disabled consultants who said the environment was too toxic)

#CultureOfEncounter meet #CultureWarriors #Encounter. @Pontifex did not promote or endorse #samesexunions. First, it's important to encounter the Holy Father. His pastoral nature is obvious. I think he's responding to those who are wounded & on the margins. 1/13
The #CultureWars may have had their time and place, but they have resulted in a failure to treat people as human beings who need (deserve?) love and belonging. Mt. 28,19 is a clarion call to embrace the world, the "other", with the love of Christ. 2/13
If we do not bring that love to the most #marginalized, starting in our families and among our friends, we are failing as #Christians. #Conversion involves both the heart and the mind. 3/13

1/ *TIME SENSITIVE* - The ON gov't plans to pass a law THIS week that will have a devastating impacts on #Indigenous #Black #Racialized #Marginalized Ss & will introduce a 2-tiered education system to #OntEd - #bill197
2/ @Sflecce and @fordnation are moving to pass Bill 137 THIS WEDNESDAY - a COVID-19 recovery bill that "somehow" includes removing the requirement for Directors of Ed to be qualified teachers - the continuation of efforts to privatize ed & create a 2-tiered system in #OntEd .
3/ Despite hopes, there is no guarantee this will allow anti-racist, human-rights advocates to apply the positions AND there is no guarantee that CEOs of banks/corporations will not be hired. This is a not a risk we can take!

1/ This is a crucial time for #OntEd ted: 3 school boards will be hiring Directors of Education - @PeelSchools @tdsb & @DurhamDSB. With any shift in power, opportunities exist for a rise in justice-oriented practices and/or a rise in corrupt, back-door deals.
2/ School boards need to hire anti-racist leaders, *especially* as Directors of Ed.

Trustees - what criteria are you giving to search firms to choose your next Director? Are hiring committees racially diverse including trustees with critical, anti-racist mindsets & experiences?
3/Leadership of school boards MUST BE INTENTIONALLY #AntiOppressive #AntiRacist. It is the only way to close gaps.

So, what might this look like?

Here are some suggestions based on the research and preliminary findings from our current study on anti-racist leadership.

My 43 #goals for the #43rdParliament #canpoli #cdnpoliKeep your promises
1.Work with Opposition not in opposition
2.Change Minister for Women and Gender Equality to Minister of Women and Gender Equity. Equality and equity are not the same thing.
3. Remove the Rural Economic Development component from the Minister for Women and Gender. It should stand alone or be added to Agriculture.
4. 42nd Parliament goal=Women & Gender should stand alone. When considering intersecting identities, the Minister has plenty on her plate
5.Increase the number of Black people in Cabinet.
6.Increase the number of Black people in Governor-in-Council appointments.
7.Name an experienced Black individual to head the new Anti-Racism Secretariat within the Department of Canadian Heritage.
